The little bridge on the Humbug-Willow Creek Trail just north of Blue Ravine between Russi and Riley has finally been replaced and is open for business. No more detour on the gravel.

Looks like another yogurt place is going in the Raley's Center off of E. Bidwell & Riley. It's called Oopa Yogurt. Wish them better luck than the last two places.

Please explain. What will the full effect be?

I believe when the railroad block is built out there is going to be a shortage of parking to support daytime businesses. The residential development planned is insufficient for its own needs and will rely on the parking structure, which will be facing additional pressure from light rail by then. Shoppers and diners at hop sings, etc., are going to have to rely on on-street parking, of which there is precious little. Sutter street will have a completely different feel without at least a few antique stores, vintage furniture stores, clothing boutiques, etc. I think stores like not too shabby, grapes and ivy, melange, burlap and bees, rainbow jewelers, mercantile, are what make the street unique. if more of them disappear, what will replace them?

Downtown plaza found out that people who shop during the day (primarily women) aren't out for a pleasure trip with their family, they want to park near the store they want to shop in, get in and get out. I believe most retailers have figured this out or modern stores wouldn't have abundant, Convenient and flat parking nearby.

People will always park and walk to drink or go to a dancehall. So as the daytime businesses disappear, what will likely replace them is nighttime is more adult entertainment venues. This trend has been going on a while and is increasing. Now that Yagers bldg has sold, the big antique cooperative in there has been given 60days to move. The rumor is that another powerhouse-style dance hall is planned for that upper space. Having walkable sidewalks will pale in comparison as a deterrent to families compared to a street of bars and pubs that don't open until late afternoon. My mother is older and although she loves hop sings, we don't go as often because she doesn't want to park blocks away to eat there when there are other restaurants in town she can get into much more easily.

If you really want to do something to keep sutter street viable and pleasant for families, shop during the day there. There are great stores for home decor and gifts, especially unique gifts you can't find in the big box stores. If you haven't been in pacific western traders or rainbow jewelers this year or poked your head in Katrina's, go check them out.

As for the events, the cattle drive is done and its not coming back. Not this year or ever. Night of a 1000 pumpkins will be safer now because the street will be closed to cars when the throngs are out.

Wow, that is news to me! At the last FHDA meeting, they said the chamber didn't want to do it any more and the FHDA couldnt afford to take it on! Well, thanks. that is news to me.

Oak Avenue Parkway in Folsom.

Is it an Avenue or a Parkway?
A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". Red Robin is moving to Palladio- right across the street from Toby Keith's. I don't think I will like it as well there.........but we shall see......

If any of you like visiting the vendors in the Folsom Mercantile Exchange on Sutter St. do it before June 30. The building has been sold and the new owner is giving them the option of signing an agreement to vacate their spaces by June 30 or leave immediately.

The other question is why is called a Parkway when no one parks on it ?

I was a bit sad to read this this morning. Those booths brought many to Sutter St that surely used many other location on the street.

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

Me, too. Wonder if it will be another bar/pub/restaurant.

I don't think we need any more. I would love to see more daytime retail.

Is that the same place that is only open 11am - 5pm, 7 days a week? Something that is, oh I don't know, open when people are actually walking around Sutter St might be a better fit for that space anyway.

I don't know what their hours are, but I'm not sure I'd want to be open later for inebriated people to walk around breakables. I actually see a lot of people on weekends walking around during the daytime. If they've already had lunch, what else is there to keep them there? It would be nice to see more of a mix; otherwise, we may as well rename it Bourbon St.

I don't see a lot of inebriated folks cruising Sutter St with their family before/after dinner or Sat/Sun breakfast.
