Intent may be the word, but the news is rife with idiot school administration officials calling the cops for bizarre things that no one with any grain of common sense would.  Suspensions for having a pop tart bit into a "gun shape" that was threatening...the always dangerous finger point, rubber band assaults, wearing an NRA shirt, or military fatigues, or the American flag on clothing, posting a principal's mug shot after an arrest, tweeting that their school team was bad, seeing a partially nude picture of their teacher on a school issued ipad that she put there, not wearing an RFID chip, and my favorite of all:

Student suspended for disarming a classmate that had a gun to another kid's head. All of those instances are documented and recent.

Zero tolerance policies are for those without the brains and balls to analyze a situation, come to a conclusion and act on it. What a bunch of moronic pansies we have given power to. Intent? Lol.

None of these examples have anything to do with Folsom. They made the news because they were stupid. Students in Folsom are not suspended for purple hair but it has happened in other states.
Folsom police are very active in our schools and may be involved to give an opinion, counsel admin or talk to parents and students. That doesn't mean a criminal act took place. Shouldn't they be involved before a student goes to far down the wrong path?

Folsom/Cordova has zero tolerance policies, so the cited outcomes of lack of common sense do apply.

Did anyone ever find the actual incident report? Was it running with scissors (oops, already broke the no running rule), or was it a psycho style attack. Zero tolerance policies don't allow one to differentiate because INTENT is foolishly not considered.

This is distressing. Why does this school keep breeding these little felons? Even just one a year is too many. Wish there was a way to eliminate this type of behavior in the schools. I am glad however that this incident did not result in a much more serious injury.

Please get the facts straight rather than relying on rumors probably started by a 12 year old. The school has nothing to do with breeding--that's on the parents--and this was not a felony.  The kid got poked in the arm with a pair of kid scissors (yes, the kinds that kids are required to keep in their backpacks for school projects).  It was not a "stabbing" and the implication that FMS is somehow at fault, or that the students at FMS are somehow worse than students at other schools, is just ridiculous.

hmmm, well, my assertions are based on the stabbings that have happened 2 years in a row and both students were from Folsom middle school. So, no, my assertion is not ridiculous. And a stabbing is not exactly a misdemeanor nor a pass for oops its just a scratch dont worry about it. A felony is committed when a weapon is used to commit an assault.

So yea, both those kiddos are felons.

Lets put that all together now. Folsom middle school has two kids in two years in a row who committed felonies by stabbing other people.

I was merely wondering if this incident was the third.

Getting accidentally poked in the arm with scissors is not a stabbing. What's next? a misplaced staple is going to be considered a felony terrorist assault?

Your assertion is that the school is breeding felons...what on earth do you think is happening at the school?  That the teachers are teaching the kids to be violent?  Instructing them on stabbing techniques? That the administration is not disciplining kids? Letting them run free on campus with weapons?  I can assure  you that neither are happening.  And thinking that the school is responsible for encouraging/breeding felonious behavior, really IS ridiculous.

You never know. A kid was suspended for pointing a pencil at another "in a threatening way." It must have been one of those "assault pencils" with rubberized grip and aftermarket erasers...

"A pencil is a weapon when it is pointed at someone in a threatening way and gun noises are made," Bradshaw (school spokesperson) said.

And they are teaching our kids...more importantly, what are they teaching our kids?

The thing is that yeah sure these are kids. Do I believe with all my heart that a thirteen year old knows better than to point let alone "accidentally " poke another person with scissors is bad? Heck yeah I believe they knew better.

However this is far beyond the point. My first questions still stands. was this an accident or was it a stabbing?  No where did I hear that it was an accident. Further, I really havent heard anyone on here say it was. Merely they are guessing. Which is something for an altogether different thread, I would think.

So, if a kid accidentally stabbed someone hard enough to need mulltiple stiches, it just doesnt sound as though it was a minor irritant or accident.

Perhaps it was a lapse of judgement or reassoning if committed by a special ed kid, but I believe all other kids in that school know better.

They are always in need of yard duty and hall monitors. You seem very interested in the cause, perhaps you could volunteer some time.

Yard duties dont get paid to spank foul mouthed teenagers. No thanks.

Besides this apparently happened in a classroom. No yard duty in their. Only teachers who are professionally trained to keep this from happening. Which belies the question---what was the teacher doing?

I didn't say the FHS or Vista students never cuss or smoke, I just haven't observed them cussing, Smoking and calling each other the N-word every morning at Lembi park like some of the Mather Academy students do.
