Weird Thursday.  Earthquake, helicopter circling and shining spotlight, full moon, & they just played REM, "It's the End of the Word As We Know It" on the radio.

We didn't feel it here, but my daughter in Sacramento felt it as did friends in Truckee.

I was in my car for the one at 8:45 and didn't feel it, but the one st 1am woke me up, the s wave shook my bed and the p wave rattled my windows. Pretty cool! This is my favorite kind of quake...one where you feel it, the news gets excited showing stores with broken bottles in the aisle, but no one gets hurt and the damages are very slight!

I felt the one at 1 am last night. Shook the bed and rattled the windows.

Lol! That is classic.

I lived through the Sylmar quake, Whittier, Big Bear and dozens of other lesser temblors. I have seen the street ripple in waves...seen every 3rd house off its foundation (Whittier). A little shaking and a few broken dishes is just a dash of excitement to remind us of the power of nature. While I'm sure residents of Lake Almanor might disagree at this point, I would far rather face potential earthquakes than yearly tornadoes or hurricanes...or weeks of below zero hibernation in my home.

When "the big one" hits it will be devastating...the same as Katrina, Sandy, or any one of numerous tornadoes/floods/fires/natural disasters.
