PG&E was working all night at the corner of Wales and School Street last night.  Was there a gas leak or something?

For the last several weeks, PG&E has been travelling Folsom streets with high tech gas leak detection equipment (it's a PG&E truck with a Google-map type device on top of it).  I'm thinking they've found SEVERAL leaks in that repair crews were working all along Wales Drive yesterday and the day before from Dean Way to School Street.  Workers were at it as late as 7:30 pm last night, and I observed a worker in a newly dug hole at Wales/School about 4 feet deep and the worker had a welding mask on.  Doubt that we'll get full disclosure on any of this.

I dont think the PUC will let them pass on the majority of the fines to their customers.  however, they will be able to pass on higher electricity rates for those that buy electricity from PG&E (and SMUD) when they don't have the hydro they usually have in summer and instead have to buy it on the open market.

Whatever the problem is, they are making sure they solved it.  They are going door to door checking gas meters at homes today.

After seeing the explosion in fresno, does it make anyone else nervous that pge has known leaks and they are "working on them"?

They have volunteers cleaning up the pwerhouse but no workers on working on those leaky spots over the weekend.

contrary to popular belief---volunteering to pick up trash is not going to win over big points with me when i know half a city block in front of a bridge is compromised with gas leaks..

The Fresno explosion was caused by a construction crew that hit the line.

The PG&E guy who came to our home found a slow leak! He replaced a few parts. I'm glad they're checking!

regardless whether its an accident from crashing into a pipe-or an accident of letting a slow leak settle gas into crevices under your house where a spark can explode your home--

its just down right dangerous.

For sure.  When the guy came I was more than happy to point the way to the meter.  I want to turn on the oven without blowing up half the block.
