Joe, I had time to do a little research. Found an article in the Washington Post (your favorite lefty news rag) that offered some instances where an armed citizen appeared to have stopped a mass shooting incident. So, you're right. It does happen. I just wonder how many times an armed citizen chooses not to intervene. There's no way to determine this, however.
Here's a question for you (Joe). You suggest that citizens should have equivalent firepower capability to engage the "bad guys". Since the Boston bombers did their dirty deed with pressure cooker bombs, would the pro-firearms folks push to make possession of bombs legal? And if some terror guy uses an RPG (it could happen), will the NRA lobby the gov't to allow ownership of RPG's? Where should the line be drawn?
Another comment - all this talk from the conservatives and republicans about conceding on background checks is total BS (IMHO). It's an election year! Politicians will say anything to garner votes. They will talk about tightening background checks (but won't do anything) all the way up to election day. And the day after the election, all talk about better background checks will be flushed down the toilet. Watch it happen.
I'll say it again...After Sandy Hook, citizens overwhelmingly supported better background checks. Our duly elected officials did nothing. Do you think your vote counts? I promise you it doesn't.
Finally, I wish both sides in this argument would channel their energies into productive solutions. When these things happen, both sides retreat into their respective corners and start yelling at the other side..."We have to ban guns" vs "Don't touch my guns". WHEN are these people going to grow up? Terrorism is a very serious problem that will require clever and serious solutions. Neither side understands the root problem, nor are they offering any solutions. It's very frustrating.

If the Muslim scumbag that shot up the Orlando gay bar doesn't represent all Muslims, then why does he represent all gun owners?
Aces - I'm a little surprised. You've actually posed a thoughtful question.
I'll turn that question inside out a little bit and ask you:
If Mr. Trump wants to ban all Muslims, shouldn't he also want to ban all firearms?

Loss of the primary race must be horribly embarrassing for Cruz. He lost to a carnival barker. All of them lost to a P.T. Barnum. It's a testament to how poorly they've all done at the job of governing. The GOP did everything in their power over the last eight years to make sure government didn't work. Now that chicken has come home to roost.
The GOP should heed the words of Pogo who once said, "We have met the enemy and he is us."

There is no sporting or self defense use for a bomb or RPG. They are weapons of mass destruction. Your view may be that so are ARs. That's fine and we can debate the merits of that argument.
You are aware that ALL of the proposals submitted by anti gun people would have had no effect on the Orlando shooter (or generally any other wack job).
He passed multiple background checks. He was investigated twice by the FBI, he had to have 60 hours of weapons training and be certified. He was an American citizen. He was fingerprinted. Etc. None of that will stop a lunatic, psychopath, or sociopath. How do we profile those people? Banning one of the weapons of choice for him would not have stopped him.
Think about this, I am a law abiding, reasonably upstanding, husband, father, coach, businessman and community member. A model citizen if you will. Yet, with a few calls, I could easily purchase a gun illegally. I'm sure the same could be said for drugs, or any illegal item. The only barricade is time and money. I CHOOSE not to be involved in illegal activity because of my values and moral compass. Were I a sociopath, all normal restrictions good people place upon oneself would be gone. Those are the people we have to worry about. Not some Average Joe's gun purchase.

Didn't consvs say this about Obama about 8 years ago? It appears the only crowd going down the toilet after eight years of Obama are the GOP. Again, they seem to be their own worst enemy IMHO.
