President Trump asked the FBI director, James B. Comey, to shut down the federal investigation into Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, in an Oval Office meeting in February, according to a memo Mr. Comey wrote shortly after the meeting.

 

“I hope you can let this go,” the president told Mr. Comey, according to the memo.  

 

The existence of Mr. Trump’s request is the clearest evidence that the president has tried to directly influence the Justice Department and F.B.I. investigation into links between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia.

Oh come oh Vin. At least be consistent. You voted for a guy whose Justice Dept directly ignored Hillary's crimes, the crimes of the IRS, and said there could be no black racism. (and set policy based on that). One DOJ head was held in contempt of Congress, and the other met with the husband of someone under major investigation (he was as well due to Clinton Foundation ties). I remember hearing ZERO outrage over those incidents...

Comey, a respectable FBI leader, came to the conclusion that Clinton did not willfully disregard the law and recommended that no charges be filed.

It's like saying someone COULD be arrested for J-walking, but in most cases there is no justification.

 

Meanwhile Trump has clearly crossed the line into obstruction of justice by asking Comey to squash the investigation.

It's time for impeachment, and now many Republicans have found the spine to stand up for what's right, and are calling for an independent investigator.

Seems Trump is like Nixon, only without the cleverness.
