I've noticed that most people roll through that Stop Sign and have seen some that don't even bother to slow down as they blow through it.

I've often felt like setting up a Video Camera at that intersection and sending it to Folsom PD, just to show them how much revenue they could generate for Folsom if they hung out here biggrin.gif

Wow, Thanks NRB! I love the avatar too. I found it on the myfolsom.com avatar selections. Thanks for sharing! biggrin.gif

To Ray, I think you have a great idea!! If you do it during the busiest times of the day, I bet you will get many rolling stops and no stops at all.

I just drove by Cruikshank and Riley. I don't think that that 3 way stop nees a stop light.

I think Riley & McAdoo needs a stop light more than the others because people just roll right through those stop signs. Also, Livermore park is right there and could use the extra safety precautions.

I agree. There is, however, a problem at Riley and Russi. Especially in the morning
and afternoon with traffic going to and from the new school.

Anyone on Russi wanting to turn left on Riley can wait forever.

I know I am late on getting in on this topic but I have a question... I live on Marsh Hawk Dr. ( closest to McAdoo) and the cars drive down my street WAY too fast. My son was almost hit by a car the other day. The driver was traveling well over 25 mph. If I contacted PD do you think they could patrol the street a bit? Or, is that a waste of time? Or, is putting up those temporary signs- "Children at Play" okay to display when my kids are outside playing? I know it is my responsibility to pay attention to my kids and I do... But you know how fast they can slip out of your hands. It is driving my crazy how fast they drive. Some kid was speeding down my street the other day with his head hung out the window.... Not sure why.
Thanks!!!

Marsh Hawk Drive is a real problem. People speed down that street all the time. I'm on Mallard Circle across the pond from you and my family walks around the pond almost every day and we have to be real careful when our kids are riding their bikes. I don't know what you can do about it though the problem was there even before your houses were built!!!!

Yes, by all means, contact Folsom PD and ask them to step up the patrols, or even better, if you catch someone speeding, write down the date, time, vehicle description, license plate number and description of driver, and call it in to 916-355-7231. If you do it promptly after witnessing the offense, they can sometimes try to nab them. They even have been known to pay a visit to the vehicle owner's residence and given them a heads up.

I've done this a few times and Folsom PD is very responsive.

Hey thanks so much for the information and phone number. I will do that for sure. I could probably sit out in front of my house and write plate numbers all day.... But seriously, thanks. I hope it makes a difference. I am curious to see how responsive FPD is.

I don't think I can recall driving anywhere in Folsom where drivers didn't "roll through" stop signs without actually stopping.

And as far as ticketing drivers that go through McAdoo/Riley being a good source of "revenue" for Folsom that would only work for a couple of months (if that) and then the word gets out that the area is patrolled.

I like the idea of a stop light at that intersection specially with a park that close by and kids running around. Even though it's a good park I've stopped taking my kid there because he likes to run towards the cars travelling on Riley and he's too young to know better. That park doesn't have a fence to prevent him from running into the street so we end up going to other parks in Folsom.

As for letting kids play in the front yard, I wouldn't recommend it unless you live on a street with very light traffic - Marsh Hawk Drive always has residents and non-residents travelling on it and even at low speeds (15-20mph) if a child gets away from you and runs into the street at the wrong time a driver may not be able to stop in time - use the backyard instead.
