The Sacramento Bee has a new and detailed article about the mall today:

The hospital could be as far as nearly 10 years away.

Can't wait for a new theater. The one we have is so outdated (Century). The seating sucks, etc. Don't know if the new one will be a Century, AMC or what.

The present theater should upgrade now and maybe they won't lose so much of their present business when the new one opens.

Folsom Century outdated? I didn't realize that theaters get outdated so quickly. Theater technology doesn't progress that rapidly. There are the silent to talkies, mono sound to stereo to Dolby digital. The disadvantage of the new theaters is that you can get some really small theaters. It feels like you're in a closet.

I suppose it would be good to have a theater with stadium seating so I don't have to worry about blocking somebody's view. (I'm 6'4")

I love the Century theaters. The only thing I could ask for is more comfy seats, but other than that, I like it.

I do think Folsom would benefit from an indie theater or playhouse, though. But Century 14 outdated? I don't think so.

I have to respectfully disagree, Century Folsom is outdated. When your home theater system delivers a better viewing experience than the theater, there's an issue (especially when you're spending $40 for a family versus $4 at Hollywood video). Anyhow, it's all a personal preference and what you expect to get for your money.

Personally, we purposely drive to Roseville to watch movies for stadium seating and THX calibrated theaters. It's so nice to have an unobstructed view from almost every seat in the house. Century will lose 50% of their business once the next multiplex opens up. Even closer, the new Bradshaw multiplex will eat Century Folsom's business in the near future. You don't have to please your customers when your the only show in town.

I went and saw a movie in Century Folsom once, and that was it.

another reason the city is happy Elliott is undertaking the project is because of the architectural success they had with the Broadstone retail design off East Bidwell Street

Thate's AWESOME if the architectural style of Broadstone Plaza carries over to the new mall... I cannot tell you how much I love that center's design - the combination of the palm trees, the "balcony" style plaza, it was very well done. IMO, the most visually appealing strip center I have ever seen.

I agree... I think a lot of the visual appeal comes from the palm trees. I don't understand why more palm trees aren't incorporated in to the area. Citrus Heights really classed up their downtown area just by putting palm trees in their medians. Folsom could do the same with a lot of major arteries that have no median landscaping yet (most notably Prairie City Rd).

There is also another similar center than looks about as good in Roseville.
It is the Safeway shopping center at Sierra College Blvd and Douglas.
It is somewhat similar to Broadstone Plaza.

Anyone have an opinion on which looks better?

Maybe they are waiting for construction to die down on that road before getting into median beutification.

I am trying to reach the builder to beg them to contract a Dave and Buster's for the new mall. There MUST be one in this area soon! Anyone want to help me petition Elliott Homes to get a Dave and Buster's?

I been to a Dave and Busters in San Diego and it was very cool. However, I have heard that arcades and such are struggling to stay in business when everyone has an XBOX and PlayStation2 at home.
D&B is a little different the average arcade though.
