I was up there Fri night during the sidewalk sale event and they were out there with a chocolate fountain. They told us they're going to open June 27th and will be open from 4-11pm. We got a sneak peek inside and it looked nice, had very private booths. They were training a big group of people so I'm guessing they are pretty sure about opening next week......

I don't see this as a sustainable business with many repeat customers.

Isn't this a fad? Nobody cared about fondue last year and now fondue shops are popping up everywhere.

There were a number of fondue places in Chicago when I lived there 10 years ago and they are still there. I think there is a market for it, but I'm with you on the repeat customers thing. We went to The Melting Pot once and have no desire to ever return.

Places like this have been around for a while in So Cal - maybe you're only hearing about it now because of the places opening up locally.
Fondue stuff is ok, its more fun then anything else but I don't think its something you're going to do often

The meal we had was good, but not great and was uber-expensive.

Melting Pot is okay, but I think they're a bit of a "chain" experience. It's also 30 mins away, so not worth the drive.
If La Dip keeps up good quality, and a nice atmosphere, I think they'll have repeat customers.
No, it's certainly not something you go to twice a week, but at the prices they charge they don't need that much business. It really is a 2-3hour "experience" and I think there's a market in Folsom/EDH for that.

I plan to check it out when they open - gotta try it out at least once - should be fun, I'll bring the kids.

That's exactly my thoughts, too. We went for a birthday party and the "experience" was fun.

I know several people that have gone to the Melting Pot downtown and they LOVED IT. It is expensive though and it's something "different" to do. If you want a typical meal out, head to Chili's or Red Robin. Melting Pot just opened a location in Roseville too (I think).
Anyway, I also think there is a market for this in Folsom/EDH. It's a place you go maybe 2-3 times per year. Fondue places are a bunch of fun on group dates. It's a social thing and I'm all for something "different" in Folsom. Just my two cents.

It's not a fad since fondue places have existed in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and in this decade.
