"They" being approximately 10 people from a city of approximately 70,000?

More like 25 regular contributors and thousands of unique hits a month. The Council watches the blog and mentions it in open session all the time. They are not happy about it. People now realize that there are issues throughout the City.

Does Folsom have a "communications director?" You know, a spokesperson for the City? Someone to spin the story who is not accountable to the public? Miller was pining hard for one of those guys a number of months back.

It wasn't the delivery of his message that was the problem. It was the message.

This was not long after he tried to raise our street light assessments (after dumping a bunch of new expenses into the program). That didn't go over well when he said we didn't have enough money to keep the lights on if people didn't vote to increase the tax. Ummm, more than 10 people voted against that and it was defeated. Oh, to top it off people were complaining that Miller was directly at fault for not getting all the power bills paid on time.

Then there was the clean water tax. It wasn't for clean water. It just had that name.

Only AFTER being sued by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association did the City stop breaking the law. They increased our taxes without a vote of the people. Miller was his outward confident self the whole time the City squandered money on the lawsuit. Man, his City would shoot themselves in the foot instead of doing the right thing. They ended up paying Jarvis' legal fees too.

Then they tried to get the tax to pass with the voters. The way that was dealt with made everyone in the City realize that all the grumbling about City Mismanagment was well founded. The Encinitas Taxpayers Association went berzerk with all the dirty tricks the City tried to pull to get the tax to pass. That was prop C. Prop C got crushed... It took a lot of effort to fight the propaganda coming out of City hall. I hope you people are ready to work at keeping your city in one piece.

Didn't your council look into the recent history of Encinitas? Didn't they know about Prop A and Prop C. These were things he was willing to do even when the press was watching.

Encinitas wasn't the only City to have mismanagement as an issue with Miller.

South Lake Tahoe candidate bill crawford ran a campaign on $70 and got elected. He ran because of mismanagment of the City and some really poor redevelopment plans Miller sheparded. South Lake Tahoe is still digging out of the debt. There essential services like police are being hit now.

Keep Miller honest and he might work out. Take your eye off the ball and you deserve what you get.

Good Luck!

I was at Sizzler tonight and think I ran into him and his Family. He had on his Encinitas city shirt and he has a large family. It looked like two girls and a boy all teenagers and a baby. Well I thought about approaching him but he was eating and that would have been rude.

I like the fact that he has experience...this will be a welcomed change!

I'm guessing you aren't from here, so you NOT aware of what transpired during the last change (COUP) at city hall. The city paid almost $450,000 to buy 2 people out of their contracts to create an opening to bring in someone in who had ZERO experience and then make them the highest paid city manager in the region.

Maybe you have read about the departments that are expressing their lack off confidence about the leadership at city hall. We have lost some very good talented people at our city for the same reasons, contrary to what one of our council members wants you to believe.

We have given away the farm on deals during the last few years, so I am hopeful that Mr. Miller's experience will allow him to change these past practices for the betterment for all of us!

I'm giving Mr. Miller the benefit of the doubt and am willing to assist in whatever way he needs to it.

I just got to think the council during the hiring process hummed a few bars of the old song "this is how we do it it folsom" and they liked the way he danced...

got to give him the benefit of the doubt and see how things shape up.
