Anyway, I do still think that the police are speculating too soon, I.E. this statement:
"We will not speculate on the specific cause of death until the facts are known," he said. "At this point, all we can say is there is no evidence of foul play. Andre's death appears to be a tragic accident."
What do you call that? I call it speculation.
I am always open to other's points of view, because when you are so emotionally involved in a situation like this it is hard to see outside of that circle.

I haven't heard the Andersons nor the NAACP involve race in the issue. The Andersons turned to the NAACP for help, and they responded. All they said, both parties, is that they want answers. What's wrong with that?
As for community speculation as to what happened, I don't think it matters to the Andersons, NAACP or Folsom PD what rumors are going about. They want facts.

the dads comments and the arrival of NAACP on the scene just adds fuel to the old fire. It may be the investigation is on track but they have a public relations nightmare. For the dad who is in law enforcement to say bad things about brother officers seems to be a big deal
you add this to the school kid arrest that had the attorney who is on tv all the time speaking badly about our police
I read that the Sacramento PD has some guy as oversight who looks at problems but I don't know if folsom has anybody to step in and look things over

Old Soldier-
I havent seen anything on this. Just heard about it once and that was it. Was there more coverage on the news about it?

My assumption, Steve, based on the fact that the organization expressly deals with issues advancing colored people and specifically to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. So, if they're getting involved at all, it has to be somehow related to the fact that Andre was at least partially black. Then the news people play on it by talking about NAACP involvement and only putting the dad on camera when in previous segments they've had both parents on.

Did Mr. Anderson contact the police himself directly and NOT get any response back? If he indeed was getting the run around from the PD then by all means I can understand anyone seeking outside assistance to put pressure on the PD to respond.
After the NCAAP was contacted, did they then give the police a courtesy call advising the FPD they had been contacted by Mr. Anderson with concerns and allow them to respond to him prior to launching the press conference?
It seems if everyone just wants answers, then contacting the FPD first would be the proper thing to do and IF they don't respond then going public would be completely understandable.
I just can't possibly understand what the family must be going through and as an outsider, I could see how if it were me, I would be so desperate trying to seek some sort of logical explanation for something that is unbelievably tragic. I can easily see how if this were me, I could be in denial about what happened and seek outside support for answers.
Again, I feel the FPD is in an impossible situation, as they understand the anguish the family is going through and kinda have to take their lumps without responding.

From what I saw, this is a must view for parents.

I saw that it was coming up when I was getting ready to leave, so unfortunately I did not get to watch it. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know if that was the choice of the media, the NAACP, or the Andersons, but as I mentioned earlier, the guy is hurting, and searching for answers. Would it have been better if he'd chosen the ACLU? A lawyer?

How about the Sacramento Bee or the Folsom Telegraph?
