Chorus:
Oooh I believe, Fate smiled and Destiny,
Laughed as she came to my cradle
"Know this child will be able"
And laughed as my body she lifted,
"Know this child will be gifted, with love, with patience,
and with faith, she'll make her way, make her way"
People see me, I'm a challange to your balance,
I'm over your heads how I confound you,
and astound you to know I must be one if the wonders of God's own creation
And as far as you see you can offer me no explaination
Oooh I believe, that Fate, Fate smiled and Destiny,
And laughed as she came to my cradle
"Know this child will be able"
And laughed as she came to my mother
"Know this child will not suffer"
Laughed as my body she lifted,
"Know this child will be gifted, with love, with patience,
and with faith, she'll make her way, she'll make her way"
"She'll make her way." Mmmmm, mmmmm
I LOVE this Natalie Merchant song and will forever remember it because it came out shortly after my daughter was diagnosed with autism...I've found so much comfort and hope in the lyrics...perfect for days when things are tough and the future feels so uncertain..

That song has a soft spot in my heart too. It's one of the first songs that I put on my "Ego Mix". Songs all dedicated to myself. Hahah
I have the lyrics taped on my mirror in the bedroom. Love it.
Today, I'm all over my "Labor Mix". Songs for The Jelly.
"Let it to
Let it roll right off your shoulder, don't you know?
The hardest part is over
Let it in
Let your clarity define you
In the end
We will only just remember how it feels
Our lives remain
In these small hours
These little wonders
These twisted turns of Fate
Time falls away
But these small hours
These small hours still remain."
Little Wonders by Rob Thomas
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

That's me in the spotlight, I'm
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

I kind of knew where you were going with this when I started reading the words of the song.
That's cool that the song came right when you needed to hear it.

You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what's I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've know each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
But you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
Repeat Chorus
Give you up, give you up
Give you up, give you up
Never gonna give,
Never gonna give, give you up
Never gonna give,
Never gonna give, give you up
Last four lines repeated
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Chorus times three

I kinda went numb just around about the time you told me you were movin' on, and you said that you were gonna phone me. It's been so long, and there ain't nothin' wrong with the line.
It's too late to regret it, but you're the one who said it. We're better off being apart
I hate to be a downer, but don't bother comin' 'round here 'Cause I won't have a change of heart."

A pimp's got a Cadi and a lady got a Chrysler
Black's got respect, and white's got his soul train
Mama's got cramps, and look at your hands ache
(I heard the news today, oh boy)
I got a suite and you got defeat
Ain't there a man who can say no more?
And, ain't there a woman I can
sock on the jaw?
And, ain't there a child I can hold without judging?
Ain't there a pen that will write before they die?
Ain't you proud that you've still got faces?
Ain't there one damn song that can make me
break down and cry?

But some of ours are easy to identify. Look me in the eye,
and ask for forgiveness.
We'll make a pact to never speak that word again.
Yes, you are my friend.
We all have something that digs at us,
at least we dig each other.
So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday.
If I turn into another
dig me up from under what is covering
the better part of me.
Sing this song
remind me that we'll always have each other
when everything else is gone.
We all have a sickness
that cleverly attaches and multiplies
No matter how we try.
We all have someone that digs at us,
at least we dig each other.
So when sickness turns my ego up
I know you'll act as a clever medicine.
If I turn into another,
dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me.
Sing this song!
Remind me that we'll always have each other
when everything else is gone.

"Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand" - best lyric for a pop song.
Yes, I grew up in the 80's - I think I've never left.
