It amazes me how openly predjudicial people are permitted to be regarding this construction.
It went through the same process and you missed your chance to appeal. What gives you the right to even open your mouth now? If traffic was your concern, you should have paid more attention. Now you're just trying to rile people up, and sadly a few people are following, because it's not aligned with your personal faith or motivation.
Right on mylo....tell it like it is.....

I apologize if you feel my two posts were distracting.
I felt it was important to post it in both topic areas once the original topic was closed and moved from General to Local Politics.
I only posted it those two times so that people would understand that neighborhood meetings are fine, but I didn't want them to be msled into thinking that they were going to be able to overturn the Planning Commission decision.
Again, I apologize.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I know there are some people who believe that the notification concerning the original meeting was inadequate. A letter in the Telegraph pointed out that in connection with the pedestrian bridge, the city ran a prominent ad in the newspaper inviting citizens to come and provide their input. There was no similar invitation for the approval of the mosque.
Of course, the city probably feels since the land was already zoned for religious buildings, there was nothing for citizens to "discuss." (I wonder if it was also zoned for a school?).
A good controversy is always energizing for local politics. I tend to agree with you, however; I don't think anything will change at this late date.

Ok, so I'm confusing the issue...however I find child molestation to be a pretty serious offense. True terrorism is bad, but can you see how the people in the Middle East think of us, the United States, as a terrorist country? We've gone into their territory and went into their "holy land" and started to enforce our ideals upon them thinking it will be better...what has come from that? Soldiers have been sent to the region and killed.
Why don't we go into North Korea and bring down their communist regime? They're just as, if not more, oppressive as Iraq was.
As for a large building being built on a small lot that will begin to impact the taffic and noise levels in the near housing development, why didn't you complain and stop the high school from being built?
The parking lot was way to inadaquete to begin with, students are parking in the neighborhood over there to avoid the afterschool traffic and the idoicy of parents as well as students in the parking lot.
However you have people the complained about the 50 meter pool before it was built, saying it was too big and there could be other things put there instead. Now those same people have said what a great thing the pool is and that they're happy it's 50 meters.

Levy will have 22 attached units on 2.2 acres with construction due to begin in the fall. It's on Levy Road near Prairie City Road. This info. is in Saturday's Bee in the New Homes section.
A nice new mosque and 22 attached units.

How can this be? Prairie City Road is the same road as Sibley St.
The mosque is at the corner of Sibley and Levy... so where are the attached homes going to be?

That's a good question. I suppose it is going to be behind the Mortgage Company on the corner of Levy and Sibley....near Prairie City Rd. There are some beautiful oak trees on some of that property. It would be across Levy from the mosque. Other than that I can only think that the new attached homes will be adjacent to the mosque. I am not sure how big that corner is.

I hate to say "I told you so"... but back on April 6th, I posted this:

A bunch of people chimed in. However, it seems like everyone forgot over the last few months!

Too many homes on such small spaces it seems to me. I used to live in Woodbridge on Black Diamond. There are 123 homes in there on .06 lots with zero lot lines. It was way too compact; so never again for me. Oddly enough the house I sold in Woodbridge is on the market again 2 yrs. and 9 mos. later.
We now have one-third acre in Folsom
