The thousand-island-esque dressing came on the side on every order.

Dave, I believe, was the only one that dumped it on his burger.

They also offered an optional aioli, which I added to my top bun. Quite tasty.

yeah I'll admit it.... I do like good ol' thousand island on a burger - thats actually the first time I've seen it served with a burger in years and it was good, I usually just add mustard.

I think Darth lefty summed it up best...

For once on this trip we have a good burger that is also a proper burger. Everything was really good and there was no magic foo-foo with the toppings, no truffle oil on the fries, etc

But I do pity the guys who had 2 beers and paid $14 for em!

I would have stopped at one if I had known they were $6.95 ea, or opted for the re-fillable ice tea.
I would rather be Backpacking

Dave you forgot to post the Paris Hilton bikini - dripping burger photo (aka Carl's ad) so John gets thousands of hits per minute! Oh that's right, the juicy burger blurred the lens...at least thats the story.

For basic menu Fast Food (excluding In'n'Out) I prefer a Whopper.

I agree McD's fries win in that category.

Not sure how people can talk about McD's and Burger KIng in the same post as Carl's Jrs. For me its night and day. Carl's are premium burgers, McD's are something you find on the ground and, if hungry enough, may pick up.

It was great to meet the Burger Boys (finally) and looking forward to next Tuesdays Red Robin adventure (mmm love those free flowing steak fries).

My first burger review. Been awhile since I have been to FB, Carls and never been to Karens or Big Dig yet so no comparisons:

[attachment=2172:img005__320x200_.jpg]
Meat: Excellent. Could use a bit more seasoning but was very good. It was certainly thick but we all managed to clean our plates.

Cooked: Very Good. I too ordered Medium and it was more Med\Well with maybe a speck or so of pink. Still had some juice dripping. Since all were ordered Med, odd how inconsistent they came out ranging from Med+ to Med Well.

Bread: Excellent Loved it. Solid, tasty and held up well with the mammoth size of burger and for the 3 that were juicy.

Toppings: Very good. I ordered mine with crumbled Bleu Cheese. I liked the Folsom Bistro sauce (thousand island-like), big red juicy tomato, lettuce and grilled onion (not sauteed). I am occasionally like a pickle but didnt come with one to a the groan of a few.

Fries: Excellent. Recall the Fries at FB and would say they are equal with both being perfectly crisp and cooked well.

Tea: Regular Iced Tea (vs. that floral junk) - very good and prompt with refills.

Service: Very Good.

Ambience: Agree with Dave and the others.. very nice and the remodel to exterior of building will be a refreshing new look.

If you compare equivalent burgers it's all pretty similar. All except In-n-out have three "levels" of burger... the tiny ones for less than a dollar, the "value menu" staples like Big Mac or Jumbo Jack, and the premium six dollar ciabatta angus yada yada. Have you actually ever ordered a regular hamburger at Carl's? It's a pretty depressing little bit of food.

You boyzzzzzzzzzzzzz are quite the burger connoisseurs, aren't you? Where is your next stop? The cardiologist? (Or some place "jucier?) After seeing the size of that burger at BSB, I'm not surprised that my husband hasn't had much of an appetite since yesterday......

P.S. I'm "Carnivore's" wife biggrin.gif

Will probably hook up with you boyz next Friday (it'd be a fun start to a 3-day weekend for me). (Work for the State ...Monday 10/13 is Columbus Day) I bet you're all jealous......... I believe we're the 'chosen few" that still get that holiday!!!!! HA-HA.
