Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

We can do that by showing our support for a mosque..
I'm sick of hearing this garbage about how the mosque won't fit in. It's not supposed to fit in!! It's a mosque, it's supposed to stand out and attract people, that's why churches, synagogues, cathedrals, mosques and temples are all so elaborate!! Enough of these "safeway looking," architecture, when I return to Folsom I expect to see this town better and brighter!
Can I get a w000t for this mosque? I'm not even Islamic, and I support it!

I continue to be concerned that the mosque project entails more than some of us have been led to believe. I think most open-minded, thinking Folsom residents have no objection to our City's Muslim residents worshipping here, and having a place they can call their own. They are already here, they are our friends and neighbors at Intel and other places... there is no reason they should not have a place of worship.
I noted, however, that once again the article mentioned the plan to build a "primary school." No one is really telling us what this may entail. Is this a full-size, daily elementary school? How many students will it have? --With the traffic problems already on Blue Ravine and Sibley, I find it surprising the City Council would approve the idea of building an elementary school at that location. Also, if this is the only Muslim primary school in the Sac area, I wonder how much additional traffic from surrounding towns this is expected to generate. Is it a profit-making private school? --These and other questions have never been answered, at least that I am aware of.
On a more superficial level, the article revealed that the mosque will be green. Huh? Are we talking pale green, dark green, lime green, mint green?? I was not aware that green is a traditional color for Islamic architecture, but I don't know much about the subject. I can't imagine the color choice will reassure those who fear that the mosque's design won't "fit" with Folsom architecture.

As long as it was accurate, I don't really care if it was flattering. It is what it is, and we just need to keep everyone talking, so this issue does not become a more divisive one.
People have a right to ask questions, whether it's a WinCo, condo complex, or a mosque being built in their area. The flyer that was mentioned in the article is scary, and we need to get those people engaged, rather than have them go off on a dangerous tangent because they feel like no one is listening to their concerns (whether any of us consider their concerns valid or not).
I think the article mentioned (though I don't have it in front of me) that meetings are being planned to give Siddique an opportunity to meet with citizens of Folsom to discuss their plans. That's a good sign for everyone who may have questions or concerns, as long as everyone comes with a civil attitude and an open mind, just like any other public meeting.

We used to live in a gated community where one was told what color one's house had to be. As soon as we moved out, we did a rather dramatic outside paint job on our new house. We got lots and lots of compliments because it was different.
