Forgetting words and "lazy" attitude aside, I still like him. I like his voice and most of his performances. I couldn't help but smile while watching his exit package and elimination tonight. It wasn't a smile of "Yes, he got voted off"...it was more sharing his obvious relief to be off the show.

"I shot the tamborine man" Ha! I bet Simon said that.

I agree... I still liked him and his music (when he remembers the words) is amazing. And maybe he did actually want to go. He'll get a contract, but on HIS terms, not AI's terms. Cook should be looking to NOT win for that same reason.

I just put in 400 calls for David Archuleta....

how the heck did you put in 400 calls?

dang and I thought my 2 calls for David Cook was bad heh

the way I see it - it will be a battle between the David's in the end...

you've got Archuletta who appeals to the older crowd with his slow ballads and you've got Cook who appeals to the younger crowd with his rock n roll style

should be one heckuva battle of voices in the end

While I haven't really been paying that much attention this year, I hope David A. wins. It'll make his stage Dad happy and then David Cook can be AI free and not have to sing crappy songs. tongue.gif

You know if he doesn't win, he'll be on Dancing with the Stars, Survivor, A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, and Top Chef until he finally wins his dad's love and approval.

I heard yesterday that Archuletta's dad was banned from being backstage anymore because he was so overbearing and controlling of David - he was also banned at Star Search back when Archuletta was on that when he was twelve, for the same reasons

I actually wonder if that song that Archuletta supposedly chose was really his decision... or was it his dad's like it always has been?

Archuletta sang really well last night but he still doesn't do much for me, I could never ever see myself buying any of his music.... but my mom and grandma might like his stuff, where as Cook blew me away with his first and third songs

gotta admit, you're probably right that it'd be better for Cook not to win so that he wouldn't be tied up in an AI contract - look what happened to Taylor Hick's, he virtually dissappeared but Daughtry is out there on top right now (did you know he's coming to town soon?)

I could barely stay awake last night. My head kept rolling back. I was disappointed in David Cook. Something was off. I really do hope he loses, because an AI contract would suck for him. David A is much better suited for that machine.

seems to me like his dad is trying to live vicariously thru him and make some big bucks off him..... maybe he's pushing him really hard right now because he only has 1 year to go before David is out on his own as an adult and won't owe daddy any of his record profits

I hope David takes care of his own finances and doesn't let his father control the money...

Maybe his Dad is just trying to protect him? I saw in one of the early clips that his Dad has been musician for his entire life. Perhaps he knows a little about the biz and doesn't want his son who is 17 (15 mentally?) taken advantage of?? If his Dad was a member of myfolsom.com he'd get applauded for taking such a serious role in his son's career but instead you all say he's a money grubbing freeloader. Nice!

No, he's just too controlling. It must be bad for him to get banned from AI rehearsals.

Part of why he was banned was that he added some unapproved lyrics into one of the songs that David A sang last week, and that ended up costing AI more money. Jesse said: "That seems like a really weak reason for them to ban him though."

My response: "I think they would have an easier time dealing with an overbearing and controlling parent than they would dealing with someone who is going to cost them money."

They have to pay for the use of the songs the contestants sing. I am sure they want to have control over that and don't want to give it up to the parents.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MY GIRL.

Much love and gratitude.

It's not the parents' show, it's AI. They should have the final final, not some parent. Nice way to show your kid how to respect others.

Anyone else notice the ladies in the audience holding up the 'Cougars for Cook' sign?
