he said... "cool, now we can drive over the lake!"
I said, "No, it doesn't cross the lake."
He said, "well then why the heck is it named Folsom Lake Crossing??! That is retarded!"

Your song is absolutely hysterical! I say you send that to the Bee for publication in the Neighbors (or whatever they call it now) that is a supplement to the paper on Thursday. Email it to Walt Yost and Bob Walter - too funny!

IMO, try them all. I think the news are the easiest way to get results. What works best is your own opinions... a "form letter" is a cop-out and will likely get deleted.

Per Encarta, some commonly accepted definitions of crossing include:
1. point where somebody can cross something: a place that has been specially constructed, chosen, or marked out as somewhere where something such as a road or a border may be crossed
2. point where routes cross: a place where a railroad track and a road, or two railroad tracks, roads, or similar routes go across each other
3. journey across water: a journey across a body of water
So, #1 fits in general but #2 and #3 are kind of a stretch (since the body of water is not really static -- depends on dam flow).
Maybe it should be American River Crossing?

Or how about Fan Bridge (as in Folsom-Auburn to Natomas Bridge)?

Or actually, maybe we should have a name in memorial reference to the fine military folks from the area who died in service because of the reason the bridge is being built? I mean, if the Dam Road was closed because of concerns after 9/11, and some fine people from the area gave their all in response to those concerns, perhaps we should consider a tribute?

(That's kind of a funny sequence of words when you think about it.)

Thanks Kerri.
I think I'll let EDH Jen's son take the first crack at popularizing it though. It works more as a song than a poem and undoubtedly he's more in touch with today's hip youth sound than I am (hard as that is to believe).

The dam road is a service circle that has been pushed around ( literally with a bull dozer) for the last 2 months or so--as they had renovated the property around the water what ever building and the utility parking lot. So, yeah, from the F-A it looks like its still there-but once the road reaches the backside of the water buildings it has all become dirt mounds--nowhere near where the road they built for the bridge--is located.
My understanding is that the existing bike trail on the direct back side of the aprtment complex is designed to drive under the escarpment of the road just before the bridge and then come out just before Beale point.
However, I think there was an engineering issue or aa change of plans.
That portion hasn't been shared with anyone, yet.
Hmm--error correction!!!
I went over there yesterday. The street sign at Folsom Dam road is still in its original place.
The sign ( not a street sign) at the new road leading to the bridge says "Folsom Bridge"
