QUOTE(Hilscher1 @ Oct 21 2004, 08:33 AM)
I think in the end all of this will be good for the Dufours and the lingerie shop once all the people who dont know what there talking about shut up and everyone realizes that is JUST A DAMN LINGERIE SHOP. (maybe there jealous because they dont like lingerie or something.) Controversy sells in most cases so hopefully all the headaches and the hassles caused by some ignorant members will create good buisness oppurtnuitys for them in the future.

Good point. There's no such thing as bad publicity. I'm thinking of stopping by just to check it out, and I certainly never would have otherwise.

Okay, so this is the kind of answer I was looking for from the store owners. But honestly, I couldn't decipher the meaning of most of her posts. So you're saying that they presented a rough draft of their business plan (which indicated that at one point they thought these kinds of items were fine) but said they included such things as a mistake? And now they've decided (I assume because everyone yelled at them) not to carry said items? Fine. Good. End of discussion - EXCEPT that I'd like to know that there is a final plan somewhere that indicates what they WILL carry. I mean, if folks aren't supposed to judge them on their own written words, what are they supposed to use? I know Steve believes them to be honest people who aren't lying, but I'm pretty sure that in Steve's line of work, he expects a written contract from even "nice honest" people. Sam & Misty need to make sure their new intentions are in writing - is that too much to ask?

As for lovefolsom, their post indicates thorough research on something of concern - nothing to condemn there.

From what I understand lovefolsom "Jerry B" you were at the merchant meeting that Sam & Misty Dufour held where they reassured the merchants a number  of times that there would be no items that you continually harass them about.  You have no proof other than their business plan which was not a final version.  It was a rough draft which they admitted at the merchant meeting which possessed very inappropriate items which they didn't intend to have in their shop.  After personally talking to them and from what I have seen, all their physical inventory and purchase receipts they have, is to consist of what I term "Relationship Enhancement items for healthy balanced relationships between partners" as well as the other items that nobody seems to have issues with.  Leave this family alone and out your time and energy that you seem to be exerting towards them, into your own family.

I think what he meant by, "It was a rough draft which they admitted at the merchant meeting which possessed very inappropriate items which they didn't intend to have in their shop." refers to the fact that they compared their shop to Spartacus, a store knew of in Portland. They had not intended to imply that they would carry the enourmous array of hard core items, including videos and magazines that Spartacus does.

I could be wrong, but that is what I believe was their mistake.

Paul, please wear your favorite Teddy to the pizza get together. I can't get you off of my mind.

Ah, I guess they're learning to be more precise, if nothing else! Too bad they didn't model their store after Jane's Vanity, which is the classy place I shopped when visiting Portland recently... wouldn't be any controversy over that one!

it sounds to me like maybe someone mixed up someone talking about spartacus and maybe the buisness model to this new store. It doesnt sound like these people have any bad intentions and there willing to sacrifice things in there store to make people happy how can our community be so unopen to allowing these people to succeed. I challenge anyone who is angry over this openening to go to your nearest liqour store and tell me theres no hardcore porn because im sure there is. I was at i think 5 star liquor the other day and they had blunt wraps for sale on the counter. If you can tell me with a straight face that this is better for our city than maybe i will listen to you. Sorry for the harsh words but just how i feel..

Come on now, Hilscher1, those blunt wraps are for tobacco donchaknow? Just like the "water pipes", "bubblers", and "blown glass" at those smokeshops you hear advertising on the radio. Oh, yeah - liquor store porn is pretty gnarly stuff!

I don't know if that is true. There is always controversy, which is a good thing.

Man I miss a couple of days and this post blows up even bigger. I read some of the facts mentions recently and I agree this was definitely reason for concern. I can't wait to see how the shop does.

Ok, since I've already been identified as "the most sheltered person" on this board, I guess there is no harm in asking.......What are blunt wraps?
