I think the look on Simon's face said it all.

Yeah his face was priceless. I never cared for Fantasia and was surprised she even won back then. Oh well.

what the hell happened to Fantasia???!!!!

shocking performance

shocking hair

shocking

what a shame. she has huge talent and it looks like its being wasted.

Isn't she on Broadway?

Anyway, I fast-forwarded through her entire performance because I never liked her that much, so I missed Simon's "look."

I like Cook for the win, but I agree with the poster who pointed out that he can probably do better as a second placer.

Yep, Cook took a dive last night. The first song was ok but the other 2 were really weak and he knew it. I think he's buddying up with Simon who most likely told him winning Idol doesn't mean squat as Cook will sell WAY more music than stumpy even after he wins tonight.

I agree that David Cook did not do as well as Little Dave...but if you have watched all year you know that Cook is much more versatile and will be a good draw.. he'll be on the same level as Daughtry and he came in 4th or 5th in year 5 of the show...

Elliot Yamin and Kelli Pickler are doing just fine and they didn't make it to no. 1 either...

This was one of the best years I have seen.... since I got hooked on this show the last couple of weeks when Carrie Underwood won it...

I thought last year was a bust.... this year had so much talent... it really came down to song choice as Simon always says...

I think Randy is going to try and sign Kristy Cook... at least he told Larry King he'd sign her...

I completely agree with everything you said.

It was a good "fight" (what a wierd theme that was), but the little guy did actually out sign Cook last night, but I still say, Cook is the only one who's music I'd ever buy.... just like I did with Daughtry

So what's the deal with the "Idol Tour?" Do all the top 12 have to go on it? It would seem like torture to be forced to sing/play at places like Arco Arena and county fairs when a guy like David Cook could be out making some real $$.

Yep, and they're coming here to Arco in Sept.

I agree, that's gotta suck, especially when they are ready to go hit the big time now, thats one of the downsides of American Idol - they get roped into these contracts that will keep them on the road and under the wings of the AI producers for a long while

the folks at AI wanna get their money's worth out of each and every one of them

It's one of the upsides, too, for those who were voted off early and wouldn't be touring at all.

Me and the wife were commenting on the fact that little David has absolutely no stage presence whatsoever. He does that little freaky "body bounce" type movement when he's singing a faster paced song. All he sings are slow ballads, and who will buy an album full of that crap??

David C showed with his second song that he can make it big with music people will buy. So what if 10,000,000 teeny boppers vote for the Archuleta kid....David C will eventually be the big winner.

HAH! That bounce he does drives me NUTS! When he did it to the Chris Brown song last week I almost fell off the couch laughing. It was so bad. He is good for a Disney stint and that is about it. Maybe Nickelodeon too. smile.gif Its best if he wins so Cook wont get stuck with American Idol contract.

I think the winner will boil down to the primary demographic for AI voters.

Cook's singing is more mature, as were his song choices. He's more oriented to the 20-something demographic.

Archuletta is a 15-year-old baby-faced, non-threatening pre-teen heart throb. It doesn't hurt that he will get the Mormon vote too. He'll probably win. Then his father will think HE won. Expect to see him soon with Donnie and Marie, once he breaks free of the AI contract.

I think Cook would look more mature if he shaved off that thin facial hair and ran a comb through his bed head. the whole fake nonchalant look is pretty transparent.
Knowing the past helps deciphering the future.
