Love it
Cash Crossing
and please make it a toll bridge... folsom city residents exempted from the toll by window decal - since its mainly out of towners who will benefit from it.

---

I agree 100%. It should be a toll bridge for non Folsom residents. Make them pay. The only problem is we would have to pay for people to take tolls and a lot of people would also go through town again and not cross the bridge.

the issue is one that all folks can understand, its not complicated like the story about how they sold the land over by the school real cheap and the buyer sold it right after for a profit and the paperwork got lost.

This is why smart people who could really make a difference, choose NOT to get involved in politics!

This is truly amazing, 26 pages of post about naming a bridge. Yet our city sells 33 acres of freeway frontage commercial property, during the boom of the real estate market for about 1/3 of the value, and only a few speak out. A few insiders try to sweep it under the rug as well.

How many Johnny Cash fans would we need to visit town to make up for the $14,000,000 we gave away by selling the land and limiting it to 2 bidders?

I forgot what was Barack Obama's bowling score?

Nice mention in the press. You need to change your business card to read: "reader-tipster and head honcho of myfolsom.com" though smile.gif

Who cares what it's called? Just get the thing built already!

I know there's a lot of talk about this being primarily a benefit for "out of towners", but I'd imagine there are plenty of Folsom residents who will use this bridge on a regular basis. If I lived in the Parkway, Empire Ranch, Briggs Ranch or Willow Creek, you can be sure I'd be using the bridge to get across the river if I wanted to get to Granite Bay, Roseville, Auburn, North Lake Tahoe, etc.. Also, not having the EDH/Cameron Park/Rescue folks passing through the middle of town on their way to other places should relieve a bit of the traffic pressure in town.

my office is in Roseville.... you bet as soon as it is completed, I'll be taking that bridge to cut the mileage to Douglas Blvd to Roseville

Don't forget North Folsom getting to The Ravine, EDH, and the new bowling alley will use the Bridge Named After Johnny Cash Memorial Bridge.

I'm probably the only one left that doesn't know this, but will we be able to cross the new Johnny Cash Memorial Bridge that doesn't cross Folsom Lake on a bicycle or by foot?

It will have bikelanes, so presumably it will have a walkway, or you walk on the bike lanes.

I wonder, if the public sentiment is so strong FOR Folsom Lake Crossing (according to our good council members), why have I not met a SINGLE Folsom resident who likes the name?

Kind of an informal poll, but I figure that the members of this forum would be in contact with a good cross-section of the Folsom public. Do you know of, or have you met anyone who actually endorses/likes the name Folsom Lake Crossing for the bridge?

Do I have to answer honestly?

OK, I grudgingly admit my wife says she likes the name.

But Jeff Starsky and Steve M. say that everyone they contacted did not want it to be Johnny Cash Bridge... I don't know how many people they contacted though.

What I find humorous about that article is even a 15 year old and and 18 year old get it.

Just so happens that the 18 year old is my niece. Very funny, and I didn't even coach her.

I love this southern californian's comment to the Sac Union article listed at the bottom of their article....

"I read your article about “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. I live in Simi Valley, California. Our city got its claim to fame with the Ronald Regan Library. Since then our freeway has been renamed to the Ronald Regan Freeway. With Folsom getting its claim to fame with Johnny Cash and the Folsom prison song why doesn’t the rest of the city counsel listen to their citizens, who elected them, and name the bridge “The Johnny Cash Bridge”. The City of Folsoms legacy is their prison. The other members of the city council need to remember this fact.
