I avoid it if possible.

The original location looked deserted when I drove I by today.
And the desolation on that side of town continues as everyone migrates toward the mall and Hwy 50.

I'll take old town any day. I prefer a dinner at Sergios where the owner comes out and says hello to a chain any time. However, I still appreciate the bulk big box shopping opportunities, so I guess it all balances out!

still have my fingers crossed for a real bulk candy See's store!!
when I was there before Easter the employee told me they would be closing down right after Easter, and would be reopening as a full store. Had to do some more work on the interior. Hope it works out!

Cute name. Better than the other name for male chickens.I noticed another new store tonight, Roosters, next to Panera. At first I was all excited thinking it was a coffee roasting place. It's actually a men's grooming/hair place. Roosters Men's Grooming Center.

Elliott just made a mistake with not having a better anchor. Movie theatres are nice, but they're all over town. Whole Foods is nice and I do like them, but it seems like I need more of a reason to trek to Palladio. I like their restaurants, but I do wish they had something more. I have not been interested in their boutique stores.
Palladio needed another anchor like Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn, but they just felt like they didn't need it.
As it stands now, Palladio is "pretty", but the tenant roster is just soooo underwhelming. :-|

If I remember correctly, they did try to get larger anchors, including a Dillard's (or some other Macy's like place). All the big guns pulled out when the economy collapsed. That's when they made the switch to be a smaller "town center" style place with a blend of food/activities along with smaller shops instead of a traditional shopping mall style.
I think it will have more draw once it fills up. The place is still pretty empty. It's not really fair to judge it in this state. Even if you look at the proposed list of stores coming in, I think some of those may change and stores will come and go once opened as Palladio finds its identity and it gets the right balance of places that people actually want to visit. That said, it gets a lot of visitors already. So people are coming.

the only problem I have with Palladio is how spread out everything is. you have to commit to a hike to see more than a few stores, and that is a hike in the elements where so far its either been too cold or wet or too hot. I love Chops though. and Whole Foods is very nice. I can't stand being in Kirkland because of the strong smell from candles and pot pourri though.
I would be happy with a mid-range general merchandise store like McCallou's in Auburn.

I'd like Palladio a lot more if it had the cozy, neighborhoody feel like The Fountains. Palladio seems sterile. The Fountains draws you in & makes you want to hang out. I drive up there nearly every weekend to meet a friend, and that's exactly what we do. Drink Peets, do a little shopping & hang out.
