I heard the Wii got the most sales in one week compared to the ps3. [My boyfriend was reading about it somewhere while looking through or WoW forum.]

I'm for the Wii. It's practical, and looks fun. If I want cool graphics and a long game to play, I'll get the ps3. [DMC4, Final FAntasies, etc.] But Wii's Zelda looks incredibly fun. I can't wait to look like an r-tard, pulling back my arm so far to launch Link's bow that I fall over in overeagerness.

PS3's price is a turnoff ><; I don't need a dvd player or super hi-tech blueray to play games. [The graphics should be nice to watch though]

Sony was supposed to have only 400,000 units available in the US at launch, although reports indicate that possibly they had much fewer than that.

Nintendo had (I believe) 1 million units available in the US at launch, and will have a lot more before the end of the year, whereas Sony will only have limited supplies through yearend.

It's safe to say that demand exceeded supply in both cases.

I heard there were over 50 at Target. I knew I should have camped out for the Wii and not the PS3.

I played the Wii on Saturday...it was interesting. I liked it...now if I can only find a PS3 to compare it to.

We have all 3...I like the 360 for the whole chat/friend list thing...Wii's controller is pretty nifty and it's Nintendo, so it'll be great for the kids...and the PS3 is our "piggybank!" It's unopened and won't be by us...we got it to sell, being that there are only like 150,000 (or so) released in the US...so far I've seen em at $1500 on up on ebay! People are craaaazy!!!

I do think PS3 will be on the top "want" list....but I think Wii will surprise people. It should do well. 360 has been around for awhile, so I'm not sure if they are a fair contender for the season.

PS3 costs too much and that's why Sony is losing the game console battle.

It's way too early to call it...I predict the Wii's novelty will wear off - though I'd still like one.

Or at least Sony will lose market share of the consoles. Most average gamers can't afford that kind of money. What were they (sony) thinking?

That a very high-end gaming system at $600 is about $1400 less than a high end gaming PC.
It's still too much though. I must admit, the graphics on PS3 are out of this world, especially in hi-def. I'd only buy a PS3 if I had an HDTV.

IMO Sony is willing to take the loss on PS3's if it can cement Blu-Ray as the winner of the next gen DVD wars - which they are poised to do. I believe Blu-Ray is outselling HD DVD 3 to 1 currently.

Also, there are several games coming soon that may make PS3 a must have, especially:
Little Big Planet (trailer)
and
Killzone 2 (trailer)

I'm currently playing Motorstorm, Resistance and NBA 2K7 and I am very pleased

I run my PS3 with a 1080P 65" HDTV and its out of this world spectacular! I've never seen a better gaming machine or PC like this ever before - it's amazing technology and don't forget its also got wifi for internet access (free game downloads and firmware updates), it also does music, photos, & movies, both regular and blue-ray dvd - so people are literally getting several machines in one

for $600 bucks with all the features the PS3 comes with, it makes it literally the cheapest all in one high def device on the market.

Sony is genius!

Yeah the PS3 is the real deal. Blu-ray movies at 1080 look amazing on the big screen.

Dave, you hear if Sony has a firmware upgrade that handles DVD upsampling yet? AFAIK they are still doing 480p output only for DVD which is forcing me to keep my old DVD player hooked up (which upsamples to 1080i).
