I enjoy the restaurant reviews, and even if I read a negative one, that might not necessarily prevent me from patronizing the restaurant. It just gives me a heads up, so to speak.
That being said, I really wanted to like Felipe's. The service was just not great the night I visited. However, the food was fairly good, so I will be back, and hopefully any service issues will be worked out.
Now as for Mesquite, I heard they were opening on Monday, but when I was driving past there on Friday night, they were serving dinner. It might have been a private, pre-grand opening, but I might wander over there later today. Maybe Mexican food is on the menu tonight.

Even after reading all of the positive posts about Felipe's, I have to say that I wasn't too enthused about trying yet another Mexican restaurant. A friend of mine had been insisting that I try it, so I agreed to give it a chance today. I am very impressed, and I will be coming back. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, the service was incredibly quick, and when the food came, I was even more impressed. I looked around the restaurnat, and it was obvious that the other customers were all enjoying there meal as well. Put this place on your "got to try this place out" list. With restaurants like this, is it any wonder that we are ranked 34 in the country?

We finally tried Felipe's last night and I have to say it was so-so unfortunately. The chips were very good, the taco and tamale that my husband had was pretty good but the rice had no flavor and the chicken mole that I ordered had no flavor other than 'hot'. My son's quesadilla was really greasy. The service was hit or miss. I thought it odd that when I asked for a water refill, they didn't fill my husband's glass and vice-versa. My husband actually said 'I've had better meals at Sol Azteca.'
