Just thought I would add my reply here...
Probably 2 years ago I was at Melting Pot in Rocklin and loved it... However the price and distance keeps me from going there. Excellent meal and it got me interested in Fondue. About 8 months after going to TMP I was in Nevada City and went to Friar Tucks - again it was good but I think I preferred TMP over Friar Tucks but that could be because at TMP we had 5 people all eating Fondue while at FT we had 6 people but I was the only one doing Fondue...
I've been wanting to go and do Fondue again and thought I would try La Dip Fondue. My mom and dad were visiting this weekend so I took them and my 3-yeard old son there tongiht (he's very good in restaurants so I felt it would safe to bring him here)... Before going there I read the reviews here so I wasn't sure what to expect.
We were all VERY pleased with the meal. Our only gripe was one we knew about going in --- no hard liquor license. They mention Vodka and Rum on thier speciality drink menus but what they have are the pre-mixed drink mixes and make the drinks with those. You don't need the expensive hard-liquor license for those.
We went for one of their house specialities:
WHEN IN ROME - FOR TWO
FIRST COURSE: Your choice of one of our delicious cheese fondues for two.
SECOND COURSE: Your choice of two garden fresh dinner salads.
THIRD COURSE: Includes filet mignon, black tiger shrimp, breast of chicken, breast of turkey, cheese ravioli, chicken thigh, button mushrooms, red and green peppers, and red potatoes. Prepared in your choice of Herb & Spice Bouillon, Oil, or Wine Cooking technique.
FOURTH COURSE: Your choice of one of our signature chocolate fondue deserts for two, which includes fresh fruit, marshmallows, and other dippable delights.
We chose the TRADITIONAL CHEDDAR & ALE cheese fondue - "Aged creamy sharp cheddar infused with Swiss cheeses, garlic, spices and a splash of beer." It was very good and came with a large selection of bread, vegetables and sausage.
My mom and dad tried the CALIFORNIA SPRING dinner salad - "Mixed baby greens with shaved sweet carrots, ripe tomatoes, diced cucumber and walnuts in a raspberry black walnut vinaigrette dressing." They liked it but thought it was too much and didn't finish them. I had the SWEET SPINACH FRAISE - "Baby spinach with slices of white mushrooms, strawberries, and almonds tossed with a mango vinaigrette." It was excellent and I finished it even though it was a lot :-)
We chose the Herb & Spice Bouillon and it worked out quite well. There was plenty of food for us (you can see above the assorted foods provided at this stage).
For dessert we chose the TUXEDO BLEND - "Luscious white & milk chocolate artfully swirled together for the perfect blend of sweetness." But I also asked them to add some Caramel to it. It came with strawberries, bananas, pineapple, apples, melon, rice krispy treats, marshmellows (plain small ones and large ones with chocolate and graham cracker coatings)... Plus there were doughnuts and cream puffs, snickers, fudge. It was very good and they provided plenty for us to eat!
The service was excellent, but the restaurant was not busy. The timing of the food items was well planned out and we had short breaks (just the right amount of time) between courses. She was attentive to our drinks and to my son. She even offered to move us to a 6-person booth to give him more room to play should he need it. They didn't charge my son for his food since ordering for 3 people provided us with more than enough food at each course to accomodate him.
I can't really compare them any more to TMP because I was there too long ago but I also don't need to compare them. We had an excellent meal and I would not have a problem going back there again (once I feel like a high priced meal again ;-) ) As you come to expect with a Fondue meal I was expecting it to take some time --- but when we left the restaurant I was shocked to find out we were there for 2.5 hours!! It was such a good experience that it felt much shorter than that...

We just spent 3 hours there. It was very good! The food was great, the server was new, so she was ok. The ambiance was great.
We will be back again.

I've been to La Fondue in Saratoga and yes, La Dip and La Fondue are affiliated in the fact that the owners are related.
My niece was a hostess there and when I went in I went in expecting to have a La Fondue experience. The only thing that I think La Dip didn't have was the Scandanavian Grill, which I love, but other than that, it was a great meal.
If Alicia (one of the servers) is still there ask to be seated in her section. She is awesome.
I believe that Simply Fondue over in Roseville/Rocklin closed, it was also very good and I was actually bummed to see them go.
Give La Dip a try, it is expensive, but it is a fun dining experience.
