Because we haven't yet become a totally communist country and still enjoy some freedoms, like lighting off some fireworks with the kids/grandkids.

calm down...it's just a discussion on whether or not they should be banned...does it really matter that it was started last year?

I am calm. If you look at Tsujiki's post, it appears he is under the impression the emergency ordinance was declared for this year. It wasn't. That is what I was trying to point out. I don't mind old topics being resurrected, I just wanted to make sure people weren't assuming we have an emergency ordinance this year. that was my first thought seeing this topic until I looked at the dates and the link came back as "article no longer here".

Bill's a moderator......didn't ya know?

Not hardly, and based on warnings I've received for being all negative, I hardly expect John would want me to be one. although I would expect if one looked and reviewed all of my posts, they would find I am very helpful with many of my posts. People just tend to remember the negative stuff over the positive, and most of my negativity is directed at political issues.

Technically, you would be +2 since I allready +1'd.

I'm with you though. Hate seeing the fun American traditions disappear.

For what it's worth, I got what you were trying to point out, and am not sure why you are being dumped on.

It might be worth reviving this topic though. I, for one, don't know if that emergency ordinance was made permanent or what the rules in the City of Folsom will be this year.

I hope they keep people from doing their fireworks on school grounds this year just because of the mess and damage it leaves behind.

Don't worry, Bill...I'm in that boat with you, along with Darth, and probably a few more.

I am going to try to be less negative, which will mean I will have to ignore alot of what's going on in our society these days.

My wife keeps rabbits as pets, so I'm not allowed to try and serve rabbit for dinner.

I did have rabbit when I was in the USAF stationed in Biloxi. I don't know if they prepared it wrong or where they got their rabbits from. It had a slightly bitter taste to it. My theory was the rabbits they served were the Jack Rabbits the security police shot on the runway, so these were rabbits that were smelling JP-4 fumes and I was tasting jet fuel residue. Just my theory though. but I'm sticking with it. The SP's had to kill the rabbits so they wouldn't get sucked up into the jet engines causing serious damage, so I think they figured they could dispose of the bodies by deep frying them and serving them to the Airman Basics going through tech school at Keesler AFB.

If you want to give rabbit another try, I saw they were selling it at the meat market in the Quarry Ponds center off of Douglas Blvd. in Roseville. It was in some sort of Thai marinade. It was too pricey for me, but it looked really good.

Not a big deal. Actually, I wasn't aware of an ordinance. I was just commenting on Arnie's speech and the interview on the news that evening.

And don't get me wrong. I like fireworks. But like someone said, it just takes a few to make it bad for the rest of us. And accidents do happen to the best of us. All I'm saying is why add increased risk to fires when we've got enough already, lightening, cigarette butts and all.

I'm fine just watching the professional shows. $20-$30 per unit (see the article in the Bee today) is another great incentive. It's ironic -- for a great American tradition, we're sure financing those guys in China.
