I saw that his family was in Fiji and that his uncle and aunt had to make the decision. So sad and senseless. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Whether he was assaulted because of his race or precieved sexual identity, it won't be known unless these people come forward. But to those of us in the LGBTQ community who have been dealing with these people for the past few years, it just confirms our fears that it could be one of us the next time.
What I would like to see is more of what I saw at pride. We had over 200 allies from the faith community come and march to show their support; and they spoke up to defend us. While it takes a lot to speak up in support of someone else, it makes all the difference. And if enough people begin to speak out when bigotted speech is made, maybe those people will finally get the message.
My junior year one of the severe special ed. students was being taunted by other kids at lunch, and I went over to say something. I didn't expect it, but I gained a friend. All it takes is a simple, "leave him/her alone". Most of the time, the bully is too uncomfortable with being confronted that they leave.
So I want to say thank you to those of you who have been supportive in the past, present, and future. Without you, things would be more difficult. And for those of you who find it too difficult to say anything to the person saying or doing the bad things, give your support to the victim. Just think of what you would want someone to do for you if you were ever in that situation.

The question now becomes what is the city and law enforcement going to do to send a strong message to the community that violent crime of any kind, against anyone, is not tolerated in this great city?

This hate crime has now turned into murder, I hope the police do everything humanly possible to find the animals that killed that poor man - and they need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The turd of a human that did the damage should get the death penalty to send a strong message that hate crimes will not be tolerated and the russians who are members of those gangs/mafia are nothing but worthless trash and we don't need anymore trash here in California

Who do you blame when a man is killed in public in the brightness of day for a simple appearance? What do you say to the mans family?
Is "I'm sorry" really good enough?
I doubt that any of these questions can really be answered in logic--rather they are questions mired in emotions and morals; but one thing is certain: a man is dead--and nothing can bring the dead back--or take that action back.
To the person who committed this crime: I despise what you represent. And I hope justice finds you very soon.

We blame the animal that killed that man - thats the ONLY person to blame for this incident.
What needs to be done is send a message to those animals (they are not people) that this will not be tolerated. That murderer needs to be found and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Its terrible that the low life animal that did this thinks he's better then anyone else - he's not worth more then the stuff we flush down toilets. He needs to be removed from society.
To answer the question about immigrants running rampant making their own laws - yes they do that and they have plenty of people (mostly libs -sorry) that support them so they continue to do it and get away.... with murder

Oh guess what? I have the same prejudices against US citizens that are also a burden to the system, so am I a bigot? Only if hating deadbeats is a crime.

I think you're a bigot for assuming that because their are foreign, they do not pay taxes, for healthcare, or language instruction.
These guys are obviously a-holes, and currently criminals, but to assume the above because of their nationality demonstrates an ignorant bias.

Anyone breaking the law needs to be held accountable - immigrant or citizen. This has become an "immigration" discussion and it concerns me that we're drawing issues to substantiate our biases and generalizing them.
And yes, I am an immigrant, I speak two languages, I have am an executive, I am active in this community, I pay my taxes, and I give to others. Blanket statements of immigrants running rampant is not fair to those who are contributing to society.

Actually, youre wrong. Satendar was indeed gay and open about it, as well as a wonderful human being. He was targeted specifically because he was gay. I am glad the LGBTQ is having a meeting. The more this is discussed the better- the more these people know they cant get away with murdering someone, the better. Satendar tried to leave because they were harrassing him and in return, the men attacked him. This is a tradgedy for the entire Sacramento community.

His friends reported that he isn't gay.
"Friends said Singh is not gay, but they believe he was singled out because he did not have a date that afternoon."
