Wow, amazingly close to my breakfast today, homemade hash browns O'Brian with a homemade breakfast sausage patty. Sorry, I didn't offer my family a choice of meat, it was a homemade sausage made with ground pork, fennel, real maple syrup and other seasonings. Here are our specials for this upcoming week of January 9 - 13, 2012.
Monday January 9:
- Mashed potatoes, meat pattie (option of chicken or beef/pork)
the hashbrowns were freshly grated red potatoes with freshly minced orange bell peppers and red onions.
I love cooking for my family.

An authentic Ukrainian Deli/Cafe.
I would LOVE to have authentic Borsch(t) soup!!
or a variety of Pierogi and blintzs!!!
Potato and beet and pickle salad
A good Stroganov, Goulash, or Chicken Kiev!!!
Schnitzel, Kovbasa, Stuffed Cabbage, Potato pancakes.
Any of the amazing traditional Ukranian breads and pastries.!!!
I can get an americanized sandwich, salad, or breakfast anywhere in Folsom.
But to be able to get an authentic meal of any of the above would really be something unique and original.
If the owners are Ukrainian, maybe one of you regulars could whisper a little something in their ear

We have so many Ukrainians and Russians in the Sacramento area, you would think there would be something like this somewhere...

Hey EAH,
They serve Borsch soup, it's on their menu, I think 2 times a week, I loved it.
I've also asked the chef and she is going soon to add stuffed Cabbage to the special, we've had special stuffed pepper, which was yummy.
They've started to serve an authentic specialties just recently and it gained popularity quickly.
I see lot of interest to these and hope they will keep this trend.
I think, you should email them to : obrotcafe@yahoo.com with your suggestions and let them know what you like to see.
They can probably post a little poll on website and see how many people are interested or so…

Honestly, I was thinking the same and was constantly looking for a good place with Russian/Ukrainian food around.
There are only handful of these in Sacramento vicinity, and the reason, apparently is that majority of the Ukrainian community prefer having the food at home and tend less to go out looking for it. This what I’ve heard from few community guys…
I’ve had a chance to eat at Firebird restaurant (Russian food), but wasn’t impressed.
O!Brot, however, keeps surprising me, I believe the secret is the great chef and fresh food every day.
It’s on my weekly menu at least 2 times a week, also bringing my family on Saturday.

Dumplings sound good in this rainy weather. What exactly is in a Ukranian dumpling?
Doubt I'll have time for lunch today, but if something cancels I'd like to give it a try.

Thank you
It looks like the fillings can be varied. I just wondered if a Ukranian dumpling had something different.

Try Old Europe
Thanks,
I was there too for a dinner, it's more like a German style and also more expensive for lunch.
Like it tough for other occasions.
