I've eaten dozens of meals in Mexico in towns with streets made of dirt, and some with "pavement". To me, "authentic" Mexican food is not all that great except for the locales you may be in when you're eating it. An exception being the fantastic ice cream they make. Meals in Mexico tend to be very simple and plain, lots of refried beans and rice, and most dishes are wrapped in a flour tortilla, except for tomales. I like some of the American-ized versions of Mexican food much more than the authentic version.

It's like the old joke... A tourist is in India and asks where they can find the best Indian food, and the answer is, "England".
"Is that your bike? It sure looks fast."

La Fiesta and Felipe's. I think El Rey is mediocre at best!

La Fiesta gets my vote, the food tastes more authentic. The only down-side, is that you do not have the option of a sectioned off dining area for your party of 10.

It's true! You can't throw a rock in London without it landing in a curry.

Stephanie, 4th gen is right about some of the suggestions, but Sol Azteca also fits in with the Hacienda & Q' bole, but in my opinion has much more authentic mexican and a very pleasant staff. Hacienda's best advantage is on pleasant weather days, it's nice to sit out on the patio, but this time of year, not so nice.

While I & my family will go to Rincon, Taqueria, and some of the others mentioned, I wouldn't take my employees for a luncheon there.

I probably should have mentioned its dinner... and its later like 8pm since it has to be closer to when we are closing...I thought Qbole was like a chipolte type? more fast food like.. im def NOT looking for a fast food type... i want like a Applebees, chilies but mexican food!

Hey i would LOVE to take them all out to Scotts or Tahoe Joes, but I really cant afford a 300+ food bill! I was planning on paying out 10-15 dollars each person then if they wanted to pay more they could, if not then its my gift to them! just in case you were wondering

Just curious, but why do you have to have Mexican food? There a so few "nice" Mexican places. I second the suggestion for Sol Azteca, mostly because it's sit-down. I don't love it as much as most, though. I think Hacienda's food is pretty disgusting. I think Q'Bole is pretty expensive, and not that good. I think Mexquite is about the same a Q'bole.

Why not Chili's? They have excellent Fajita's! The best I've had anywhere! Their Chicken Nacho's are very good too. And I really love their chips! I've got the extra pounds on my sides to prove it.....

The only problem with your question is the price thing. It seems that every Mexican restaurant in Folsom, thinks they must charge more, because we are all rich here, in case you haven't heard.

The second problem is with the "good" part. All the good Mexican restaurants I've gone to are holes in the wall.

Good luck with your choice, though. It's a tough call.

ah ok for a nice sit down mexican dinner you might wanna consider Hacienda or La Fiesta as the best bets for good quality, good ambiance without breaking the bank account.

I finally tried El Rey. Nice, casual, family owned joint. Good food, reasonably priced.

The dad was back in the kitchen, so I didn't meet him, but Suzanna and their daughter, Little Suzy, were very sweet.

Traditional, home-style Mexican grub. I had to get an extra side of beans. They were fairly close to the my wife's grandma used to make. No one can match Nani Carmella, but these were close enough for seconds.
