It's very easy to turn of the signatures. If the siggies bug you, turn them off. It is under "my controls" and then go to "board settings".

No, it isn't worth arguing about, especially from a user with only 18 posts.

^^^dumbest comment of the day.
what does a user's post count have to do with anything?

for something that isn't worth arguing about, you've made plenty of comments in this thread.

don't assume, based on post count, that a person is somehow below you.
does that make you feel important?

many people lurk here and don't feel obligated to post meaningless BS such as the comment above.

Hi - I'm new here. for the record, I am not:

this list will continue to grow as I am accused of being someone else.
Maybe someday I can take part in the FolsomFun of trying to determine the imposters!

Because if the person with the annoying sig rarely posts, the problem is rarely encountered.

Like that obnoxious person at your office that is always trying to sell you something. If you rarely see them they are not that much of an annoyance.

So as long as I don't post often, I can have as long a sig as I want? But if I post frequently, I have to reduce the size? What's the cutoff?

I'm new here, and have only posted a couple of times, but this seems like a stupid thing to argue about. If John is that concerned about his precious bandwidth, why isn't there a size limit on signatures? Why is it subjective, and only he and his other mods get to decide what is ok and what is not?

I personally think it's an unjust persecution of dcm because his sig was religious in nature. As he said, it did not infringe on anyone, and you don't have to read it.

This is John's site. We do not pay for this. John can do whatever he wants.

I get your point, and agree that it is flawed logic about the signature length, however, I get tired of people complaining about John. I think he does this site because he enjoys it, because I doubt he gets much else out of it. I like this site because it really is the best source for local information. We should quit bitching and get back to the relevant subjects.

PLEASE understand. Dcmss is not being targeted by our webmaster or moderating team because his/her sig. line is of a religious nature. John stated that there is NO problem with the content of dcmss' sig line.

I am certain of John's sincerity. Having been a moderator on this board for a number of years, I have seen how hard (often behind the scenes) John works to be fair and to please his users. It is a hard job, and he does it well.

Regarding frequency of posting and "rights" to lengthy sig lines -- I think that bishmaster was speaking in general terms about trolls. In the past we have had new users sign on to the board only to flood it with pages and pages of propaganda. This is not the case with dcmss. He/she is a newer user, and we should give him/her a chance.

There is really no controversy here, and I wish we'd all move on.

Thank you, stacycam, for your words of support.

I hate when newbies come and cry about how thing are run. rolleyes.gif

You have not been here long enough to know what you are talking about... Don't start your posts here ragging on the owner.... because we all like him a lot, and really don't want to hear you stirring stuff up.

You are correct; I am new here. Hence my statement in my post, "I'm new here." I'm not crying about how things are run, I'm just trying to level the playing field. All of you "veterans" (that have so much more experience than dcm and I) are making an arbitrary decision about whose sig is ok and whose isn't. I'm just suggesting that there should be a simple limitation on the size of signatures, so there is no question as to someone's motives when they make a subjective decision such as this one.

John, I did not mean to "rag" on you in my post above. I realize that is was not very diplomatic of me to belittle you about your bandwidth. For that I apologize. I do, however, think that my suggestion is one that is worth entertaining.

However, since I don't have a large post count, I don't know what I am talking about. I sure am glad that newcomers are welcomed onto this forum. I feel so at home already.

I hesitate to post because I don't like arguing. 72o, I think the reason for the reaction toward you is that you came out firing. I can only speak for myself, but it doesn't matter to me how many posts you have, as long as you are courteous and respectful. I know many "newbies" don't like to post because there does seem to be an established clique, so to speak. Yes, there are definitely regular posters, but that is what makes this a "community".

It's great to have new members, but instead of coming out with a chip on your shoulder, and criticizing John, try being more open and friendly. The way you posted felt, to me, like you are just an old poster with a new id. I'll never know.

Either way, welcome to the forum, and I hope your future interactions are better.
