A bakery or patisserie that is open on Sunday and past 5 PM on Weekdays.

Convert Sudwerks Riverside into a real German restaurant complete with sauerbraten, beer steins, and apple strudel.

A New Orleans style restaurant, say one owned and operated by the Brennan Family. Wouldn't mind oyster stew, hot beignets, and Bannanas Foster.

I'll trade the planned Ruth's Chris and P.F. Chang's for a McCormick and Schmicks.

If you're looking for a "real German restaurant complete with sauerbraten, beer steins and apple strudel" you should try Heart of Europe. They're located off Blue Ravine/Natoma Station Drive in the little strip mall at the far end of the Winco parking lot. Check out their website:

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Wasn't there a Ruth's in town that eventually left? I believe it was on E. Bidwell by the urgent care center......and there is a new Hawaiian place in the Safeway shopping center on Francisco in EDH. Pretty good food.

There used to be a supposedly high end restaurant on Folsom/Auburn next to Hoshall's called Christoff's I think? Then it moved to that location you mention on E Bidwell by Urgent Care. Then I think it changed names/owners and the sign says Touche or something like that. I've never seen it open, it just sits vacant back there for going on 2-3 years now?? Horrible location for a restaurant. I may or may not have all this correct!

I don't know the history and I could be mistaken -- aren't the people associated with Christoff's now associated with Cafe Campanile in EDH? Another place I'd like to try but haven't.

I still want Fresh Choice up here! I hate going to Citrus Heights for it.

This was going to be my request as well.

Also, a Sonoma Chicken Coop. PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE! It would do so well here.

I had a friend visiting recently from St. Helena. He couldn't believe how many restaurants there were in Folsom. He said, "the only way that many restaurants can stay in business is if no one cooks at home." I think he may be right!

I'd love to have a Moroccan restaurant in town. Casablanca in Sacramento is awesome, but it would be great to have one closer to home.
Bill beat me to the punch on a Korean restaurant.

We prefer Marrakech on Fulton:

I'd also love to have a good kosher deli in town.

Have you tried the one on Greenback, I think it's called Sam's?

A lot of people don't cook any more. I love to and raised my children to enjoy cooking as well. That's why, as Dave said, when we do go out we want something special and we want high quality and great customer service.

Sam's isn't kosher; it's kosher "stye." I tried it many years ago (probably 12 - 15) and wasn't impressed, and I've never been back.

Christoffs closed and he opened up Cafe Campanille in EDH.

After Christoffs came Baccaras, which was freakin' FABULOUS fine dining. But spendy, and out of the way.

It closed, and reopened as Touche, which was supposed to be more casual, still quality, but more approachable. However, they closed after barely 2 months open. Not sure why, but I never even got into the place. That was, geez, 2 years ago? And nothing has taken over the space since.

Talking to the Baccaras owners, they had constant issues with signage, and just letting people know they were back there. Great location though, with a beautiful back area with fresh herb garden. Really sad to see Touche didn't make it sad.gif

Here's an old MyFolsom review of Touche, although it incorrectly states that Jacks Urban Eats replaced it. Jacks replaced a different French-themed place in Broadstone.

Bummer. I've been meaning to give it a shot.

There's a pretty good Persian place down that way, too.

Yep, the lines are crazy, but more time to enjoy the sangria...mmmm...

I want a gluten-free (no wheat, rye, barley or oats) American restaurant. One where you can go in and get an old fashioned breakfast - eggs, bacon and toast. Going out for breakfast on the weekend is one of the things I really miss. A place to have sandwiches and salad for lunch would be awesome too.

Cooking gluten-free isn't hard. You just have to know what you're doing and be willing to find the good-quality GF products that are out there. There are several places in town that serve GF food, but I'd love to have somewhere to go where it's "normal". There are a lot of people with celiac, and let me tell you we are willing to drive a long way for some food that we don't have to cook ourselves.

I've always thought that Folsom would be a perfect place for a specifically GF restaurant. We're a destination of our own AND we're on the way to Tahoe.

Here's an article I wrote about it - (I'm not sure why they did the the underlining when they published it - that's not how I wrote it. ??)

http://www.associate...ree.html?cat=22

If any restauranteurs ever want to try opening a GF restaurant, let me know. I've got some recipes that will knock your socks off.

Actually,

1. Folsom has plenty of restaurants, and

2. Folsom has plenty of restaurants that are poised to go out of business.

We don't need more stinkin restaurants...we just need some quality.
I have opinions, you have opinions. We'll just call it even...is that OK ??

As far as Thai is concerned, There is a place on auburn-Folsom in the same complex where Mark and Monicas used to be, tucked into the corner.I prefer to drive a bit to Bangcok Thai on greenback on the left hand side behind a large mexian sports bar. very nice setting and I think good food.It is located between Fair Oaks Blvd. and Sunrise Blvd. I also read in the paper today that there is a new Thai place that opened in the Bel-Air shopping center, you might want to check out..
