Cowboys chaffing leathers
broncs busting bones
sunset filtered through oak trees

or

Corndogs, cotton candy and coke
jingling gear and leather soap
sparklers bright in the hazy smoke

or

Tanned faces look on
grunts and sweat
bridge traditions of old

I know I failed math in school, but if I'm not mistaken:

5 + 7 + 5 = 17

all eyes shine bright with fireworks
oos and ahhs rise up

folsom summertime
bull riders, beer and peacock calls
the arena glows

I know I failed math in school, but if I'm not mistaken:

5 + 7 + 5 = 17

yes but the site says up to 17 syllables it does not have to be 5 + 7 + 5

and in alliteritive or rengu style it says that there is no steadfast rule in where the syllables are placed as long as there is a pattern
Also, themed Haiku strung together like the one I wrote above has more lenience in the writing --though that doesn't take away from the fact that I'm obviously not a seasoned Haiku writer

I know I'm not great at Haiku--but what the hell, it's fun anyway.

I saw a cowboy pass away
A horse was put down
