I think there are a number of MyFolsomites who would make excellent council members.

You, for example. I know you had entertained the idea of running before. Any chance you're still interested?

Run on a Johnny Cash Bridge platform and you'll win (my vote, at least).

Go for it, CV. Changing the bridge name and letting residents vote on how much open space there should be south of 50 without requiring them to stand at grocery stores getting petitions signed would probably get you some votes.

Camay,
I think Michael Gordon will win the seat. This will be his third try and he barely lost to Kerri last time.

Sure HOPE that Michael Loses again. He is just not someone we need on the council. His arrogance and his being just another YES MAN are certainly NOT what this City needs. It needs some fresh ideas and someone that can stand up to the good-ole-boys...

I think Robert would do well ..

Cheers

I will miss Eric. I hope his seat is filled by someone of equal caliber, independence of thought, and character.

Okay, okay, I'll do it. Sigh!

JK. That is really quite a time commitment. It would be tough with children, especially small ones.

Good grief isn't there any "new" blood in town to run for city council. The names suggested and the bantering here are both ridiculous.

Being on this forum in no way qualifies one to be on the City Council. In fact I would vote against most names mentioned here so far including Michael Gordon. Gordon's good friend Miklos will probably support him a 3rd time.

How about sharing your opinion on what qualifications one needs prior to serving on the city council?

Who would you recommend? Somebody with NO experience, having never served on any commissions or EVER dealing with land issues with developers?

I understand. But another way to look at it is that you've got like a two-year window of opportunity before your child is old enough to form memories that he will use against you when he's older and in therapy or writing bad angry poetry.

In other words, you should do it now, before your child is old enough to retain the memory of having been neglected as a baby (or, as the case may be, by having been exploited for cheap political gain by appearing on all your campaign posters).

How long has Eric been around? I thought he was one of the newer bloods.
I want to see Miklos & Starsky gone.

Miklos is a *edited*
I can't wait to see him out of there.

And for the record I've done work with City Councils, Planning Comissions, and held a seat on the board of one of the top ten educational districts in the state. If I had time to attend meetings and felt qualified to run I would.

I'll leave that to the trained donkeys . . . er monkeys . . . er professionals we have now.

Personally, I would vote for someone with NO experience and the right ideas, than someone with experience and no willingness to stand up for what is right when it flies in the face of what developers want. Developers want everything they ask for and never paying for what is good for the city. Developers don't want someone who says, "NO, you need more parking spaces than you are alloting for in that shopping complex! Developers don't want someone that says, "Are you effing serious that putting an In'n'Out there won't cause serious traffic problems between the freeway and Ironpoint & Bidwell intersection?"

So tell me what "Qualifications & Experience" you feel are required for the job? I think any experience at kowtowing to the current system, is experience I don't want in office!!!! I don't want experience, I want pashion in fighting the current establishment.

I would rather be Backpacking

still no answer to your questions for Leslie after dropping that huge insult on all you guys yesterday huh? That's too bad, I was hoping to see something substantial to backup that statement that nobody here is worthy

For what its worth though I completely disagree with her, I think you would make a fine candidate Robert

Thanks Dave!

I wasn't offended by her comment, she has a right to her opinion. I'm just trying to understand her reasoning.

I'm 99.99% sure I won't be running. I'm going to support somebody else who probably has a better chance of winning and then would give us a voice with a proven track record of asking tough questions and won't pucker up and kiss up to the land owners on S50.

I hope everybody realizes how important it is to have someone who is going to represent the people N50 on issues S50 on the council!
