I had a similar experience (x2) when Dudwerks opened up. I haven't been back. A place only gets so many chances no matter how hard we should try and support local businesses.

Well my fellow, you and I are on the same page as each other. It's my money and I will spend it when and where I chose to do so. I am not a believer in the socially incorrect ideas that we must give them another chance. But once again, I want folks to be their own judges, if you like go back and give them your business, if not, oh well don't go back... pretty simple isn't it.

But in the meantime, eat well, laugh well and have an adult beverage of your choosing !!

My wife and I (along with some of our family) have already been to Granito's three times. Great food and great service. It's not an inexpensive place, but definitely worth the money if you are looking for a nice night out. Their menu is a little small but all the dishes we've tried so far are great. Some of the dishes are not traditional Italian - you can get things like Italian Nachos (much tastier than they sound) and even Beef Stroganoff when they feature it as one of the specials. The wait staff is very friendly and willing to do just about anything to keep you happy. The chef comes out from time to time to see if the customers are happy.

They also have great bread and dipping oil with a bunch of roasted garlic cloves in it.

If you like Italian, give them a try.

Much against my previous statement I went and had lunch again at Granitos. UUUGGGHH what a miserable experience. Once again, I will expound on the basis of ALL the basic of The Mother Sauce's. That is being the Ragu Ala Bolognaise suace. Which is nothing more than 3 types of meat married with some basic vegetables some milk, white wine and very little tomato paste.. That's it, It is proudly posted on the main entrance at the city hall of Bologna, Italy as the official sauce of the region.

When I visited there was a couple whom had already ordered their food and myself, that's it 3 persons total. It took 18 minutes from the time I ordered my pasta with meat sauce to the time it was delivered ??? In the mean time as I was eating my meal another couple came up to the servers, one young male and another female and said that they were LEAVING!! due to the fact that no person had waited on them for at least 15 minutes. If you care to give them a try... go ahead... I'll go up the hill to Papa Giannis instead.. At least I know I am not paying for some arrogent Granite Bay, Piss poor intrepretation of what is Italian Food.... Oh and did I mention, at the bottom of my bowl of supposed Meat Sauce was about 5 tablespoons of watery sauce!!!

Thanks for the warning, that's some pretty bad service.

Since I've had burgers and rated them enjoying the company of carnivore on more than one ocasion, I will have to say, I give him credit and if he gives a place a bad review, then I will likely not visit that establishment. I have been to Granito's in Granite Bay once using a discount from our Entertainment book. I don't recall being displeased with the food or service, but I do recall I thought it pricey for what we got and I haven't been back.
I would rather be Backpacking

Darnit, I just bought my friend a gift cert to Granito's for her birthday! I'll have to let her know to wait a few months. Maybe they'll get the kinks ironed out. She has been to the GB location and enjoyed it - wonder why Folsom is having such an issue!

Ditto, I respect Carnivore's foodie knowledge and if he says a place is bad, it really is bad.

Why is it in these times there could EVEN be a chance a customer have a poor experience!?!

Lets hope they turn things around for the better though carnivore tried them twice over several weeks with concerns. Hate to see another place go under.

Please do not hesitate to at least check the place out, it's only fair to all parties. I, however might suggest you try it out for lunch first. Due to the fact that prices are more in line with the quantity and quality of the food. Remember it is Ala Carte' pricing.

I will revisit agin in 2 or 3 months, hey maybe the 3rd time will be a charm? Oh and yes I might add that I have met the owner and had he been there on my visit would have brought a few things to light, so that they can make an attempt to rectify some problem areas...

We too have been there several times and have enjoyed it each time. The special we had one Sunday night was a rib eye served over an italian rice cake. Let me say....best ever. Havn't been there for lunch, but will soon.

I too say give it a try!

I hadn't read the reviews here before visiting Granito's Friday night. We had a great evening - our server was attentive (but not overly so) and knowledgeable, the food was very good and we felt our meals were reasonably priced. We will be visiting them again soon.

Please give it a try, I believe whatever problems others experienced have been worked out.

Does anyone know when they will open their new location (formerly Jenny's)?

Also, has anyone eaten there, and if so, how is it?

New to area. I remember the days of old itailian food, veal dishes and ravioli's and polenta dishes. I have found my stay. It's a place called Granito's. Its off of bidwell near the bistro. The food was really good, and the atmosphere is tuscan from the old days with the new. I was at home here. The food was prepared to my pallet, and was fantastic. The chef came over and talked to me as he did to many tables. being busy as they were to take time to come by and see people was nice. The wine menu is more than I could handle so many favorites and many new ones I can't wait to try. The desserts were good too. bread pudding as they call it. give it a try it will suprise you.

I have been in town for a few months and will make this my stop. I try to eat out once or twice a week, and i can say I hope to see you there. Come on by and give the new place a try. I enjoyed it, and am sure you will to.

we were underwhelmed with our meal. the minestrone was really salty and had mushrooms in it that darkened the broth. I couldn't finish it and I was hungry. and I don't recommend the grilled vegetable panini. it was dry and had this minced paste of some kind that I had to scrape off. the veggies were burned, literally, not just grilled. we asked for cheese and they forgot it. the server was great and very attentive, but it couldn't compensate for the food. the head chef apologized and said another had fixed the sandwiches and he would give us a $20 certificate so we would come back again. instead he gave us a coupon for $20 off your next $50 purchase.

other diners seemed happy with their meals, so maybe just steer clear of what we had. that said, I don't think we could try it again.

You sound like somebody that wouldn't be happy with any meal. I had a sister-in-law like that. Never ordered a meal she didn't either send back or complain about.
