I am not Naga...I'm not...and your ATTACK on Naga is VICIOUS!!

Naga brings valuable restaurant info and reviews to MyFolsom.

We are all lucky to have Naga's contributions.

Home Depot has hip waders on sale. Come in very handy.

I think we all need to calm down and wait for Naga Jolokia/Spicy to weigh-in on this one.

If you go to any restaurant, make sure you get Naga's/Spicy's review first.

Other than the few chains and pizza places, we dont have many Italian restaurants.

Spaghetti Factory is good especially with kids but be prepared to wait for a table by Hazel and Hwy 50
Lil Jonnie D' Carlos off Main St in Placerville
Visconnti's in Folsom
and Strings in Folsom

I forgot to mention Roma's III, it's a pizza joint, but they also have a variety of pasta dishes as well.

thanks Bill, that's exactly what I did....

it's not a fav place of mine but it's not bad either. I've only been there a couple of times since I've lived here and only been to Visconti's once... neither really made me wanna run right back and go again... but the food was decent, I can't berate it because I didn't have a bad experience there...

and besides we make our own Italian food at home, so we rarely go out to dinner for it

Since I am Sicilian I usually cook our food at home too. Visconti's has very good food - but they are Sicilian too - so that is the food they serve. It is not northern Italian which you would have at the other places. There is a huge difference.

Service is fine, although they have a female relative (maybe daughter) who seems to be somewhat moody. She has always been nice to us but I have seen her rattle some 'less olive skinned' guests! Mr. Visconti greets each guest at the end of their meal and asks how your meal was. We make reservations if we plan to go on a weekend evening.

I'm sorry, but IMO, Folsom has NO good Italian restaurants. I LOVE Italian food and it's impossible to get here. I would say Visconti's is the best, but I certainly wouldn't rave, and I haven't been in years (obviously not good enough to get me in there).

Now, if you consider OG and MG good Italian, then you will probably like My Brother Vinny's and Visconti's. It all depends on your baseline.

True. Might want to pick up a shovel while there, too.

Welcome to Folsom. In case you didn't know you have entered the Land of the Foodies, where the bad press from an uneven opening day can sink what might become a good place to the bottom of the Marianis within a month, but where a previously popular place can coast along on its rep for years. Also everyone expects veal parmigiana better than Olive Garden for $6 a plate.

So what is everyone's favorite Italian dish.

I learned how to make Manicotti using a meat & spinach filling and I've found hardly anywhere ever has it on the menu, it seems everyone wants to stuff cannelloni shells with cheese.

I love Lazy Cioppino. I also like making cacciatore. The dish I make most though is pasta with clam sauce (linguine con vongole). I cook the pasta in clam juice rather than water. Mmmmmm..... Garlic and clams ---- what a great combination.

I make a pretty good spaghetti sauce with sausage but if I posted it here I'd be called a simpleton cause it's too easy...

Not quite that simple but it does use canned tomatoes. Heresy!

Actually, I don't think there is anything wrong w/ canned tomatoes. Sometimes, I find that they are better than fresh (depending on the season, etc). Fresh tomatoes are sometimes not very sweet or not very juicy, etc. Canned is actually pretty consistent I've found.

I do try to use fresh when possible but don't hesitate to use canned if needed.

Not at all. My dad is Italian and he likes using canned tomatoes. He makes a great sauce. Sometimes I'll use a bottled sauce just to save time but never in front of him. He'd be so disappointed in me.
