I'm not sure how many of us attended the CSD meeting last night, but I would encourage everyone to get involved with this. Check out the video on the website, www.thepromontory.net. This park is just across the county line and most residents of Empire Ranch, Lexington Hills and the Parkway will have their views of the beautiful night skies impacted by the glow of 24 70' sports lights! Not to mention the sounds of ADULTS screaming and cheering from the natural bowl of El Dorado Hills.
Write our Folsom City Council and ask them to get involved. Per one of the council members, there are cross-jurisdictional issues due to the impact on all of us. How many of us received disclosures that warned of us this giant sports complex that is actually closer to us than to most EDH residents?
The Promontory residents are not opposed to a park, they just want a park for the KIDS, not a major sports complex for the adult leagues. And they wouldn't mind having the promised neighborhood park put back into the plans instead of being developed for new housing in a dubious "land swap".
I encourage you to get informed and get involved!

I know that the outdoor lighting level rules are getting a lot stricter from next year based on the zone, ie residential in this case. So the lighting level in residential areas will be kept to a low level to maintain the dark skies. Lets hope they do not find a loop hole.....

Childrens parks are great- I am all for them. The EDH CSD is building a sports complex for ADULTS. How many or your children play and practice sports after dark...
My son plays NFL Flag Football, and every game is after dark.
