same goes for us, plus I'm really not keen on throwing away my hard earned money

ditto,

I like playing games for the fun of it, win or lose "the game"

So I can enjoy poker, blackjack, backgammon, etc if the chips are just chips and no one has to settle with cash. Put my hard earned cash behind it and I lose interest, I would rather buy something tangible that will last.
I would rather be Backpacking

Can you read? They have a whole floor of gaming downstairs for non-smokers.

You complain even when there's nothing to complain about don't you?
We all dream of a world of sunshine and rainbows and peace. The problem is some people think this would be a great place to live, while others think it would be a great place to pillage.

my father lived in San Pedro during the Great Depression. He said that when he was 13, he and some other young kids would get on the free shuttle steamer that went over to the casinos in Avalon on Catalina Island so they could eat the free food on the casino's steamer. Casinos may not thrive, but they still keep going during even major depressions. That translates into local jobs, so, what the hey!

Down economy or not, there are those that hope to strike it rich and if that is how they choose to try, so be it. as I said before, not my cup of tea.

I heard the warnings on the news last night for motorists not to try alternative (backstreet) ways to get to the casino, the offramps are the only access points to the road that goes to the casino and the same with leaving the place, the road only takes you to on-ramps to get back on the freeway.

As it will be a zoo this evening coming up the hill, they also warned motorists, if you don't need to be going up the hill, you may want to avoid it. I'm sure glad my commute is in the opposite direction.

It was supposed to open at 7pm.

The manager changed his mind and opened the doors at noon.

Everyone at work is talking about wanting to go up there this weekend.
