The middle schoolers have a closed campus. After school, specially on Fridays, they tend to gather after school to get together with their friends and sometimes get something to eat.
Now its been along time since I've been in middle school, but I seem to recall spending time with my friends after school, sometimes stopping off for a soda. The people in town used to complain about us kids causing problems, but I don't ever recall any of the businesses refusing to take our money.
As long as we have children, we are going to need to have schools and I suspect students are going to want to hang out with their friends after school. Since they can no longer go home and hose off their driveways, I'm not to worried about them being kids and hanging out with their friends.

EDIT: Oh, he is 18. Hope he goes to jail 'till he's 28
This is a ridiculous attitude to have. Do you realize that marijuana has no ld50? No deaths from marijuana consumption have ever been recorded. It has a handful of documented medical uses and has been used by humans across the world for thousands of years.
It was wrong for him to be trying to make a profit off of an illegal substance, and I agree that he should be punished, but wishing him ten years in prison is pretty bizarre. Would you wish the same sentence on a kid who got caught selling another kid a six pack of beer or a pack of cigarettes?

I have to agree. After all, he wasn't giving them to kids who didn't know what was in them. Those kids were willing and knowingly going to buy some pot brownies. Come on, its pot, for goodness sake.

So not only using it is OK but distribution as well? Man that's rich. And if you think that's all this kid is into your are mistaken. Let's just say in this case the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

You shouldn't be hanging out with teenage girls at the gym, keep your head down and stop looking all around. What would your wife say?

What are you doing roaming the streets of Folsom all the time? You should be at work.

no, I didn't say it was okay either to use or to distribute. What I said is that 10 years for selling pot brownies is too harsh. that is the charge. if he's charged with other crimes, then the punishment should fit each crime. in this case, its selling pot brownies and 10 years is too much.

Cop Avoids Charges For Making Pot Brownies
Dearborn Police Department Opts Not To Charge Former Officer After Confession
DEARBORN, Michigan, May 10, 2007 | by James M Klatell
(AP) A police officer who admitted taking marijuana from criminal suspects and baked it into brownies with his wife will avoid criminal charges.
The police department's decision not to pursue a case against former policeman Edward Sanchez left a bad taste in the mouth of at least one city official, who vowed to investigate.
"If you're a cop and you're arresting people and you're confiscating the marijuana and keeping it yourself, that's bad. That's real bad," said City Councilman Doug Thomas.
Sanchez, who resigned last year from the department in this Detroit suburb, declined comment Wednesday. Police Commander Jeff Geisinger did not return calls seeking comment.
The department's investigation began with an emergency call from Sanchez's home on April 21, 2006. On a 5-minute tape of the call, obtained by the Detroit Free Press, Sanchez told an emergency dispatcher he thought he and his wife were overdosing on marijuana.
"I think we're dying," he said. "We made brownies and I think we're dead, I really do."
Sanchez later told police investigators that his wife took the marijuana out of his police vehicle while he was sleeping. In a subsequent interview, he admitted he got the marijuana out of the car himself and put it in the brownie mix, police said.
His wife was not charged either.

I have the video clip of that on my myspace, it is hilarious. The cop is so baked and they say I think I am dead. The news casters even start cracking up while trying to report it..

In the immortal words of Peter Tosh:
Some call it tampee
Some call it the weed
Some call it Marijuana
Some of them call it Ganja
Legalize it - don't criticize it
Legalize it and i will advertise it
Singer smoke it
And players of instruments too
Legalize it, yeah, yeah
That's the best thing you can do
Doctors smoke it
Nurses smoke it
Judges smoke it
Even the lawyers too
