Yes, but not for Pop Tarts... I tried them and they didn't work.

MSgt: A couple of years ago I experienced the same symptoms you describe and after God knows how many doctor visits and X-rays, CT scan and MRI, they were finally able to find the culprit (via the MRI). I have two herniated cervical disks that were pressing against my spine and causing the unbearable pain in my left shoulder, arm and fingers. In lieu of opting for surgery, I underwent some physical therapy and learned to do exercises to reduce the pain. I still occasionally experience the pain, but it always seems to subside after exercising.
So, I'd suggest that you get your doctor to order an MRI for you and have your spine checked out. That just may pinpoint your problem. Good luck. Leenda

Sometimes I feel a pressure under both sides of my sholderblades and then it (pressure/heaviness) moves down my arms and into my fingers. Then I have trouble moving my fingers. Once in a while my fingers actually crink up and I can't move them at all. When this happens it usually lasts a couple mins. Then everything is ok. I went to the dr but she said she had never heard of that and had no idea what it was.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? It is kinda scary.

You are not crazy~well unless we both are. I had this happen recently. Scared me to death. I had just pulled a few cans of soda out of the ice chest and the same thing you explained happened to me. It was in both arms, so I didnt worry to much about heart attack. I remember loosing all feeling and looking at my hands like they were not attatched to my body, it was really weird and frightening. I am 37, pretty healthy, I might have been taking a diet supplement pill at the time (i need to check dates) and we were on vacation ( so i was not too stressed). I told myself that if it happened again then I would check in with the doc. Not that I think they would actually help me. (sorry i lack faith in doctors)
let me know what you find out

MeTooAcademy - thanks for letting me know you experience this as well. I have never heard of anyone experiencing this.
Yea, I went last Thursday (UCD on Turnpike). Thanks for asking Eric. New Dr. (I couldn't get an appt with my regular dr) has no idea what could be happening. She Ordered some blood tests (4/23). I don't expect that much to come of it. She isn't my regular Dr. Dr Kiley is my Doctor - I don't know him very well, only seen him a couple times. She made me an appt for a physical with him in mid May. She gave me the "if it happens again call us" speech. I told her it has been happening for many years and yes it will happen again... and that is why I was there. She didn't have a reply. What.. so it happens again and I call them and they do what? Say they have no idea what it is and order more blood tests? I am pretty discouraged.

Do you need a referral from your primary to see a neurologist? If so, push the process with your primary if the blood results don't provide any answers. If not, get recommendations from others and schedule the appointment yourself.

I agree with Resume Lady. Unfortunately, in this day and age, you sometimes have to be assertive with your doctor to get what you need.
I have a lot of experience with the UCD Spine Clinic. I suggest you ask for a referral now, because it can take some time to get your first appointment. They are good and thorough in their examinations. They will probably get an X-ray right there, but if that doesn't find anything, ask strongly for an MRI. If it all comes out clear, at least you'll know that's not the problem.

I concur.
And while some doctors get upset over patients coming in with webstuff and self diagnosis, others appreciate patients that are serious about staying in good health. Some doctors will say "you can't believe what you read on the web", but if they want to dispute information you find on webMD, find a new doc, fast.
Try googling your key symptoms and the word "webmd" and see what you find, it may help with getting that referral to a specialist.

Exactly! I do my research on Mayo Clinic's website; I think they may know what they're talking about. lol
A dear friend of mine has been struggling with symptoms for months. She had pneumonia in Dec., that cleared up, then she started having trouble with breathing again. Lungs were fine, so her doctor said there was nothing more she could do for her. Oh, she did ask if my friend wanted to do a sleep study, because that's what her office specializes in -- odd, because my friend wasn't having trouble sleeping. I, and others, were urging her to go to another doctor, go to urgent care, go do something other than continue with this doctor. One night shortly after that brushoff from her doctor she was having so much trouble breathing she went to the ER. They aspirated over 2 liters of fluid from the space between her ribs and lungs and sent that fluid off to be biopsied. She also had an enlarged lymph node. The diagnosis finally came back -- can't remember the name of it offhand, but it has to do with excessive proteins being deposited in her organs. While she doesn't have cancer, this has to be treated like cancer and chemo starts tomorrow. We're all very, very angry with her doctor who was content to just send my friend on her merry way.
Edit: Okay, my friend was diagnosed with Amyloiditis and Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia (a non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma).

I wish your friend a speedy recovery, but MAN, that diagnosis is a real mouthful.
