You all need to understand that John works at Intel and just when things are right and going fine he has to introduce change to keep people on their toes. If you stay still, you die...

Supermom - Best of Folsom 2010 should start in March.
Thanks John.
And I'm not against the forum site changes-(yeah, that's a surprise to me too, since I'm so unlikely to like changes) but what I think would be cool--is too call it something like-MyFolsom.comcommunities
I'd be cool with that.

That's not a reason, that's a method.

John, I appreciate your desire to expand. Neighboring communities could definitely benefit from a stronger forum.
However, most Folsomites like the unique attributes of this town. MyFolsom.com expresses that. I vote to not make radical changes at this time.

I found this forum about 3 years ago while looking for more information on Folsom. Being a part of it has been a lot of fun, some frustration (thanks to Chippy and Darthy), and has taught me a lot about Folsom. In looking for information on my future home, I never thought that I would become involved in a community of people who are so involved, passionate and caring about the community they live in before I could even get moved there. MyFolsom has gotten me more excited about becoming a resident of Folsom than I ever could have become otherwise. If the forum had been called GreaterMySacramento I would never have even found it.
I see the other areas when I click on a topic now and then but pay no attention to them. It's all a part of MyFolsom. Not at all sure I would go looking for a sub-heading under a MySac forum heading.
Just MHO, and whatever you do, it is your site.

Whenever I travel to visit family, or vacation, I wish there was a myTown forum there. Not so much for local stuff like Orangevale or Citrus Heights, but for Reno, and Redding, and Mendocino, etc.

First I want to thank you for developing and maintaining MYFolsom.com - you are a Foslomite as most of us on this site. We all take pride that we have a local Folsom based forum that is for , about and of residents mostly in Folsom or those looking to be here or those that have left here. This is called a community ... and one that most of us are proud to be a part of. We are Not Ranchoites or sactoites or citrusites- we are Folsomites - the core and base of what you have created. You know the fever of this community when you had to deal with another local forum within its bounds... WE ARE OF FOLSOM and want to remain so ---
I see that many of the other sites do have their own unique URL's as listed at the very bottom of the page listed as:
MyFolsom.com is a member of the Tomato Pages Network.
MySacramento.me - sac blog, sacramento forum, sacramento restaurants, sac state, stuff to do
MyFolsom.com - folsom news, articles, folsom forum, folsom yellow pages, myfolsom.mobi
MyElDoradoHills.com - el dorado hills forum, el dorado hills restaurants
MyRanchoCordova.net - rancho cordova articles, rancho cordova forum
MyOrangevale.com - orangevale forum
MyGraniteBay.net - granite bay forum
MyRoseville.net - roseville forum
Is that not enough ?
Although I do understand your personal desire to grow the empire= why does it have to come at the expense of throwing MyFolsom.com under the tires and putting us under the pinnings of a greater SAC grouping ?? We are not SAC and never will be
MyFolsom is a very important local community and should stay such lest you wish to sweep us all under the table...
Think about it- and your options to maintain what has been so successful ...
Cheers

I really think this is jumping to a major conclusion that hasn't been validated yet (if ever).

did you read John's original post ?
he says :
I am considering making some new changes to the forums. I'm dabbling with the idea of moving all the Folsom Stuff to the Sac area forums and on the black tab, it would only point to Folsom and the Folsom subforums.

I won't ever throw MyFolsom under the bus. It will always be the flagship site of the network. However expansion was always in mind since day 1. There's a point at which there is demand to talk about El Dorado Hills, Orangevale, Sacramento, etc... so I made the appropriate forums with it. As such, I always envisioned MyFolsom-like communities for these areas. But I realize you come here to talk about mostly Folsom, and not really Citrus Heights, etc.
I'm not making any changes right now. IF (big "if") I ever do, I promise it will be something you like - and something you can identify with. Stay tuned.
