Let me first thank Deanna, Carnivore, Mylo, Sandman, eVader, Sunshine Services and 4thgenFolsomite for your wonderful comments about the food that we're serving out of Sierra Smokehouse. Word of mouth recommendations are so valuable to a small business like mine and you all have made me blush!! THANK YOU ALL!!!
Next, I want to let everyone know that we are closed this week through Thursday as my Competition BBQ Teammate, John, and I are attending a catering conference that is giving us some great ideas for additions to the catering menu. I apologize for any inconvenience our temporary closure may cause you. We will reopen on Friday, March 12th at 11:30am. Our special on Friday is our smoked tri-tip and since we're closed on Thursday I'm also going to offer my smoked meatloaf. I hope you'll come by and give us a try.
Finally, we are adding staff at the end of this week to help handle the extra business we've been getting as a result of this thread and the continued growth from new customers from Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills, Shingle Springs and Placerville. The additional staff will also help free up time for John, Heidi (my wife) and I to work on new dishes for the restaurant.
Thanks again and we hope to see you soon!
Ed
You're very welcome. When my husband and I fnd a gem like your place, part of the pleasure is sharing the find with others

Saturday night sounds like they have a wonderful menu with riblets (sp?) and delish mac and cheese so next time we are planning to go on a Saturday.
The kiddos shared a kids meal and they were very nice to cut the sandwich in 2 and provide additional plates. Customer service was fantastic!!
We will definitely be back! Much better than any bbq place we've tried around here.

I made the trip up 50 to the Cambrige Rd. exit and paid a visit to the Sierra Smokehouse...the owners Ed and his wife Heidi are sanctioned judges of the KCBS, translated the Kansas City Barbque Society. You can bet they have tasted some of the good, better and best of BBQ. A very lofty organization for sure. Well they take their refined tastes and produce what I can only describe as the Best! in these parts.. every item I tasted, ribs, pulled pork, chopped brisket, and plump chicken thigh were cooked to absolute perfection!!! What you and I get served is the same food they would present to judges in a competition cook-off. I know where I am going when I get a hankerin' for Great BBQ!! give them a try... you will agree. And yes they do have a kids menu...
I finally tried it and have to say the chicken thighs were delicious. Unfortunatly the ribs had no smoke flavor at all (or salt )and the pulled pork and brisket were dry and lacked flavor as well. Back 40 Texas BBQ to me have the best smokey flavored ribs. Having said that, they are the nicest people and I will return for the chicken and to give hard working people business. Maybe it was an off day for smoke.
