Are you really contending that you'll like Folsom better when it has 20,000+ more residents, and south-of-50 is built out with housing on postage-stamp lots, shopping centers, and industry??

Or do you admit that life in Folsom won't be as nice then as it is now?

Border - Many people moving here now come because they want to live in a developing city. They want to hang out at the mall, have 12 movie screens from which to make a choice, a fast food joint on every corner, etc.

I believe Folsom will be built out at more than 200,000 people. I didn't always believe that, but do now. And, I think it will happen sooner than later. No, I do not thinik it will be as nice here when Folsom is finally built out as it is now. But, as many of our City leaders like to proclaim, "That's progress."

Ok, John-- I think we need a new Clickable Face for the site -- a sad face with lots of tears pouring out.

After reviewing the planning commision's meeting minutes I was surprised to see that there are plans underway to add another 56 homes in Folsom's Central District.  (In addition to the homes being added to "The Enclave")

Thirty-four of these homes are going to be squeezed on the small parcel of land at the corner of Sibley and Glenn.

Another twenty-two are slated for the property just up the street from Sibley on Levy Rd. (This land is behind the California Hills subdivision, adjacent to the end of Gisler Ct.)

Given that the Levy site is only 2.2 acres, and according to the plans it's going to maintain a .27 acre open space, the 22 homes will each be sqeezed on land that is about .09 acres each.

Personally, I understand that most open land is simply waiting to be developed by someone.  However, I'm at a loss as to understand why the planning comission is approving and encouraging such high-density "single family" homes.

In the long run, I suppose it's better than apartments or condos, but it seems to be a blight on an already well-developed area.

What are other Folsom residents feelings regarding squeezing so many homes on such little land?

My response would be to require the city to enforce some of the original plans for that area...namely arts/historical/cultural. It seems to me that the near-sightedness of this city council and the councils for the past 15years has managed to lead us down the developers path without regard for the "planning" set in place previously. We need something other than a railroad turn around and more shops to attract people to the historic district to spend money to support the small businesses down there or we'll end up with a red light district before long...it's already starting. What about reviving the old Folsom Gaslight Theater...how about a foreign film theatre or better yet a full time farmers market complete with a wine shop? We can't count on the city planners to think big because they're letting the developers do the thinking here....com'on folks lets get talking about it and see if we can't make it happen. Submit ideas...how about a park along the river complete with an outdoor stage for concerts...restaurants on the river...reviving the old Chinese temple..
.it's all a possiblity.
