put you money where your mouth is....the only thing buzzing in my brain is the story would be held to brake closer to the election cause it seems like lots of voters sort of forget news they heard six weeks before the election.

The irony here folks is this.... I was told by a city employee or few, that the city is making all city employees take a MANDATORY ethics class. Taught by who? you guessed it, the PD Chief, the Fire chief and city manager. So these 3 guys are going to lecture the worker bees on ethics? I almost fell out of my chair! Thats the whole problem right there, everyone is running around screaming about public service employees being overpaid, overfunded, too much retirement and so on, all along its the guy minding the store people!
Now, don't get me started on the city manager. He came here with a lot of baggage, and has continued the same "behavior" that got him in trouble in the prior two cities where he worked. Just research where he came before. It's amazing what you can find on the internet.
Things are a mess in City Hall right now. Not that they were much better during the Martha era, but our problems are much worse than in most other cities. Once this City Manager retires, which is expected in another year or so once he completes his five years with the city and qualifies for lifetime medical coverage (paid by city taxpayers), the city will have an opportunity to bring in someone good. Let's hope the Council makes a better decision than they have with the past two managers. On a positive note, they couldn't do much worse.

There was a victim. It was a young boy who was skateboarding when he was hit. Our source of information came from him (actually a close friend of his family). If necessary, I'm sure we could track this person down, but unless someone from P.D. steps forward and exposes this, I seriously doubt a 10 or 12-year-old boy, by himself, could help much.
Well, I'm thinking he wouldn't be by himself. He would have his parents, too. I think a 10 or 12-year-old child who was allegedly hit by a car with a DUI driver, along with his parents and a good PI attorney could do a lot.
Why did no one think it significant enough to mention this "rumor fact" before?

That's like having a drunk teach an AA class!

I'm thinking going after such deep pockets a PI attorney would take the case on contingency, especially because of a cover-up if one exists. Maybe some of the attorneys on the board could enlighten us what would happen in a situation such as this, if it exists.

If I or any of you were serving on the Council and heard about this story going around, and knew for a fact that this accident didn't happen, wouldn't each and every one of us make a very PUBLIC statement denouncing this and challenging anyone to bring ANY information forward such as date, time location and other parties involved?
Who among us wouldn't do this?
Its rather conspicoius that the most active Council member of this forum is remaining silent about all of this.
IF an accident like this happened involving an elecetd official like it or not, this would be newsworthy.

I find it very disturbing that IF there is a victim that was a minor and other people knew about it they wouldn't have helped them or at the very least notified the minor's parents.
I find it disturbing that IF someone isn't sure if this happened or not they would use their "telephone game" information purely for their own satisfaction to embarrass their least favorite council member and have no intention whatsoever of finding the truth.
Either true or not true, the way this is being done is slimy.

What is Ernie saying about it?

the other thing is even if names are not mentioned in the story, the person must be a woman, unless they are saying the old chief of police is bi-sexual, and using this line, the one lady council person is always being picked on by the old council boys (even after all this time they won't let her be mayor). given that you would think if the story held water a council boy would rise up and hold the sword in order to get rid of a council person they don't like
the other side of made up stories is what they cal defimation so we may have some attorney folks locking and loading as we speak

This is just perfect. It's up to the victims of gossip to provide proof of innocence and not for the gossipmongers to back up their story with huge holes in it with any kind of fact other than they heard it from a little birdie.
None of you have credibility with me, because now instead of backing up your story you are turning on me and saying I must be in someone's back pocket when nothing could be further from the truth. Nobody else has to know it. I know it. Without facts, you are all just full of surmise, speculation, conjecture, assumptions, and another thing that doesn't smell very good.

Too many want to believe it's all lollipops and rainbows and we live in Utopia.
How is this fixing anything? What just got fixed by you posting gossip and what has to be a painful part of someone's personal life on a public forum? You think the chief's wife likely knows about this gossip? I'm thinking it can't feel good to see people use it for their own agenda. How about the rest of the family and friends?
I think that has been my point and I think the point supermom is trying to make. There are proper channels to fix things.
What you are posting is much different than saying you don't like the way a land deal went down or you don't think developers are paying their fair share for obtaining water on the S50 land (Where's Ernie on those numbers by the way?) or you don't want the S50 land annexed or you don't like who contributes to a candidate's campaign.

The bottomline is that the Grand Jury needs to investigate this (along with a few other issues involving City Hall).
I am just thinking that probably the allegations have been given to the grand jury and they have said they are just gossip, and so the next step is to light up the wires on my folsom cause here gossip doesn't have to be proven.
this here reminds me of a dog I had that spent most of his day chasing his tail. lots of energy expended without a lot being accomplished

This is a much different issue than just cruel gossip about an alleged relationship between two private individuals. As alleged, this relationship involved two public officials who may have also been involved in a cover-up of a serious crime (DUI) where a child was injured. And, possibly linked to this relationship and cover-up, a city official may have received some very generous pay increases, during a time when all other city employees had their salaries frozen. If this is true, it sounds like a case of government corruption that far exceeds any that I can recall occurring in our region, and approaches that of the City of Bell in terms of just pure dishonesty and greed.
