Allright allright, let's not all pile on Mary56. She may have an unpopular opinion on this one, but perhaps there is more to meet the eye. Let's not get personal, please.

Arrrgghhh...!! Just when I was achieving focus on the matter. Thank you everyone for your common sense and support. Be safe...

Not harsh at all......Folsom PD is there to ticket you for everything else that means nothing.... So 2 people are dead and more could have been dead at FBA, so Chris and Steve I hope you are not on the Patio or one of your loved ones next time something like this happens.

Folsom is a Good Old Boy community and you all know it.....They are sitting around with really nothing to do , so since the incidences of DUI's have gone up lets ramp it up and try to make Folsom a better community to live in. Very sad for all the Families involved.....

Let me guess...

You got a ticket for 35 mph in front of Folsom Middle or maybe a cell phone ticket on Golf Links...

The cops can't be everywhere all the time. You say they should be at FLB , well what if the next accident was from a different bar near 50. We don't have Tom Cruise powers to see crimes before they happen. Putting a car in drive vs reverse happens to many people even when sober.

old mary's post wasn't the brightest thing I have ever read on my folsom and I agree with redone that her emotion might be up a little cause she got a chicken s ticket from the FPD. as for the FPD not going after DUI folks, read police part of the paper. A sheriff friend told me a while back that its kind of a joke in their community that the DUI arrests are the FPD's best work product

these arrests it looks like are on the weekends, so they may have a force that sets up then to nail the drinkers from the sutter street honkey tonks try to leave town. the dates, times and arrest locations tell that story

its kinds cool to see how us posters have a sense of justice when we jump on a post thats off the mark

Its such a shame that the news wasnt very accurate about portraying the devastation that happened in this drunk driving accident, they reported that the worst injury was a broken arm. However, I know someone who was injured. A young El Dorado Hills girl who was to start nursing school in two weeks, was struck by the driver who crashed into the patio area. Her L-L-12 back/vertabra is broken and both her feet. She is expected to recover but will be in a body cast.

I stopped off at London Pub for a quick beer yesterday (didn't drive thru the patio when I left) and while I was there KCRA news called and wanted to know if they could come in and talk to the bartender about over-serving people and how they handle it. They also asked her if they could talk to them about why there are some many drunk driving incidents in Folsom recently.

She was pretty nervous about the whole deal and told them to call and talk to the Manager later. I wonder if they went over to Lake Bowl and talked to them?

Folsom's getting a bad rap lately with these 2 prominent DUI's and the rash of catalytinc convertor thefts.

I had heard about her (I know her mom) and was wondering why the reports said worst injury was a broken arm. This poor young lady was on her way home and is now still in the ICU. According to some who were there, this isn't even the most severe injury. With the glass half full, we are just all glad that everyone lived.

And Democrats in particular have a history of facilitating this obstructionism in exchange for campaign donations and votes." . . .Amanda Ripley re "Waiting for Superman" movie.

My sympathies to your friend. The news does down play any injury that is not considered "life threatening", but sometimes the injury can lead to infection, which causes death or complications which alter the quality of life or the ability to work. People often think being alive is all about being able to breath, but it is so much more to many of us. We want to thrive, not just exist.

Foot injuries are touchy to heal. I know because I had a slight foot injury once and even though I broke no bones, my foot still hurts now and then. According to the doctor, the ligaments often heal but are never the same. Sometimes several surgeries are needed and then there is no guarantee the injured foot will be like before. My doctor says the foot is a very complicated area of the body, with so many small bones and ligaments.

I've had a back injury too, which is another tricky thing to be injured. My back has never been the same and others who have had back surgeries tell me they weren't worth it. Their backs still hurt and there is no easy and 100% fix. I pamper my back and often use heat packs sold in the store, to get over periods of pain from just moving the wrong way or over doing.

My best friend was a nurse for years. Nursing takes many long hours on your feet, a strong back to lift patients and requires lots of bending and stooping. Your friends injuries could well keep her from that goal. Rather than try to continue down that path, she may want to reconsider her goals towards a profession that wouldn't require so much from her body.

Doctors will tell her she will be all well with no problems, if they want to do surgery, but she should look into the results of any surgery as well as her long term condition before deciding what's in her future. Scar tissue and other problems sometimes last a life time.

Again, I'm very sorry to hear this about your friend and wish her all the luck.....what a shame. (Hubby and I now sit far from the front windows of any place we dine, if there is parking there.)

I think KCRA is trying to find an angle for the 5 o'clock news. I don't think we've had a rash of dui accidents. Just two very coincidental and awful accidents, completely unrelated to each other. I don't think Folsom bars are any more likely to over-serve than bars throughout the country (except maybe Utah). I feel a lot safer living in Folsom than I would in Modesto or Stockton where they seem to have a shooting about every other day.

you know, I was impressed by how little damage was actually done to the patio. There was nothing to be seen by light of day the next morning. She seemed to squeeze between the concrete pillars pretty neatly. I wonder if there would have been less damage to humans if she had hit a pillar, instead of driving between them. what are the odds? I think it was wise that Lake Bowl used those concrete pillars in the first place, since the patio juts into the parking lot. This was just incredibly bad luck (combined with being under the influence).
Knowing the past helps deciphering the future.

This statement bothers me...

Driving is a SERIOUS responsibility. If you can't be trusted to understand DRIVE from REVERSE - you should not be driving period.

In my 30 years of driving, I've never mistaken one position for the other...

P.S. Tom Cruise does not have super powers to foresee the future... ;)

And to add - "Even when sober??"

Bothered by what ?
Young and Old drivers select the wrong gears all the time.

AND , ok , you got me. It wasn't Tom Cruise but the 3 psychics he had lying in the water. ( or maybe you haven't seen the movie about getting arrested prior to commiting a crime ? )

I think KCRA is trying to find an angle for the 5 o'clock news.

Sacramento news in general can be counted on for 2 things:

Folsom fascination.
Factually incorrect more often than not.

I think that movie was called "Minority Report?"

Unless of course he was referring to Tom's Scientology-enabled abilities. Who knows what they're capable of!

Is this true that Folsom Lake Bowl offers a free ride home program?

I can see a bartender knowing someone is too drunk to serve if the guy gets wild and the bartender is the only person serving the drinks, but if there are a couple of bartenders, or a coctail lady if a person is quiet how can they go back on the bar for serving too much booze.

as techology grows each person might have to carry their own minature breathilizer that the bartender/coctail person checks before taking a new order

heard on the radio that binge drinking is on the rise. 5 beers in two hours puts you in the club...back in the old army days, 5 beers in two hours was just a warmup

Don't tell my wife this, she's done it twice, both while 100% completely sober. Once was after a doctor visit, she put it in drive instead of reverse and ran into a brick wall (no major damage), the other was in our drive way one morning getting ready to go to work, bumped into my car (no major damage).

I'm with you, I've never ever done that in my 30 years of driving.

It happens. Not everyone is 100% perfect.

Or maybe guys are just better drivers then women? ;) (ducking and running before I get beaten for that statement..)
