I'm pretty sure an adult took them to the motel, so they were probably not of driving age.
No kids were involved at the hotel, it was a police sting

okay, what is really creepy is that he thought he was making arrangements with the guardian of the two minors to meet at a hotel to have sex with their kids. so he thought he was talking to a parent of someone who was going to let him have sex with their kids? now THAT's creepy!!!!

Where did this fact come from? I haven't heard that.
Maybe he thought he was emailing with a 17 year old and expected to meet the 17 year old at a hotel.

What concerns me is that he said he's been with many other young boys. Where are they now? And where did he find them? Breaks my heart and makes me sick.

In the affidavit was an email from the perp to a Father (it was the cops) of a 13 year old girl and a 9 year old boy. In his email and explained in the affidavit, he thought he was arranging to watch and then maybe participate in the rape of the girl, and noted that he was actually more interested in the boy, and that he had sex with other boys under the age of 14 before.

'First of all, my point has become moot, now that further details have emerged.
But my general point stands, which is that there are degrees of wrongness. The extreme situation to make my point would be if a guy meets a girl at a motel for sex, the day before his 18th birthday and on the day of her 18th birthday. That would not be "child molestation" on her part, would it? I know it's a ridiculous comparison, but it's just to make the point.
