So, after checking today I found (6) of my campaign sides are gone; and it wasn't from the code enforcement officers as they will call prior to removing the signs. I reported this to the Folsom PD this afternoon.

I have not heard anything back as of yet. I will keep you updated.

I haven't seen a campaign sign of yours yet - was this another theft?

I've seen Roger Gaylord signs on School, Glenn, and Sibley St. (I've also seen his ride - nice wrap)

I've seen Ernie Sheldon signs on a street close to Sutter & and I think one on Wales.

Seen Starsky's signs in front of Syblon Reid, Quick Quack Car Wash, Folsom Lake Bowl, an empty lot on Iron Point, and the lot where Kerri Howell's sign usually is on Riley near Sutter.

I see a theme here.

2. Campaign/election signs may be located on private property and outside of any clear vision
triangle; campaign / elections signs may not be located within or over a public right-of-way
unless authorized pursuant to Folsom Municipal Code Section 17.59.030 (D) and FMC
17.59.030©(13) as summarized below,
b. One or more campaign/election signs are permitted on any one commercial parcel
of land provided all such signs do not exceed a maximum combined sign area of
forty (40) square feet and a maximum height of ten (10) feet.

I posted this yesterday:
I will have to measure them but at first look it appears that Starsky's double sign exceed the total 40 square feet of signage in one location. They could be in compliance but will measure and notify code if not.

Today - I confirmed that the signs are 4ft x 8ft and there are two in many single locations- so combined- they exceed the 40 sq ft as allowed by the city ordinance.

Time to call CODE - your calls would help as well. 355-7229

Maybe it is CODE taking his signs down ? ? if not will see what we can do to get them to do it in the locations where he has 2 signs together...

Cheers

So is the Chamber and Biz Pak going to send out emails with $1000 rewards to help you find your signs too or is that only for their monkey boy Starsky?

I don't remember that every being allowed before either so it must be a new rule. I'm not sure I like it, but I guess it's a way for the city to make some money.

I think this has always been the case for signs such as new subdivision signs, open houses, etc. I think it might only be campaign signs that require a permit.

In my experience they do not call you first or later. But, the do take signs to the corp yard where you can pick them up. Check there.

Be Fair to all candidates and call on Gaylord's 2 signs at Oak and Folsom-Auburn then also. Or call on none.

One can only call in to report the signs they see.

Its my understanding that all campaign signs are supposed to have their campaign registration numbers somewhere on the sign? This way people ( voters) can verify what campaign is putting out the signs. Maybe the FPPC can be notified and possible fines issued for noncompliance?

If anyone sees any 4' x 8' sings located on a residential property, they too are illegal for exceeding the 10 square feet limits on noncommercial property and can be reported as well.

Sometimes I think maybe we should change our ordinance to ban all 4' x 8' signs for local elections all together? Owners of commercial properties have a significant more financial interest regrading who serves on the council than a typical resident, in a typical neighborhood. Commercial properties are also located on busy thoroughfares, providing more visibility for signage for those who are voting on the very issues these commercial property owmers have before the council.

Its just another part of the system that favors keeping those in power, in power!

Please be kind to our code enforcement staff during this season! In the past, I was told they get put through the wringer by a council member who tries to use every diabolical excuss to bend the rules in their favor and against anyone running against them.

4 x 8 times 2 signs.

The same as what you're complaining about with the candidate you don't like.

My signs at Oak/ Folsom Auburn Road are below the size limit. I had code enforcement (Pete) go look at them when the resident who wanted them placed them.

TO date I have had (8) signs stolen and I know it's not code enforcement as Pete calls first before taking them down.

Today, the Telegraph ran a add, I mean story on Starsky's missing signs (http://folsomtelegra..._type=&town_id=)

I'm waiting for my story in the Telegraph about my signs being stolen.
