9-Year Old Girl Assaulted In Folsom

FOLSOM -- Police in Folsom are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a young girl near an apartment complex.

Police responded to the complex on Creekside Drive on Sunday night, regarding a sexual assault of a 9 year old girl. She was playing outside by herself when the suspect approached her. The suspect followed the victim behind a parking garage structure, where he sexually assaulted her. No weapons were used during the assault.

The victim was taken to the UCD Medical Center for a medical examination. The suspect is described as a white male adult in his late teens early twenties, 5'6" to 5'9" tall, medium build, blond shaved head and beard. The suspect was wearing a brown short sleeve shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Folsom Police Department "Hot Line" at (916) 930-1098.

I know I hear/read everything with a critical eye, but again, in this article and on the news last night the scenario was that this 9-year-old girl was playing BY HERSELF at 9:00 pm on Sunday evening when this occurred. Where are the parents/guardians?

The news reported that the girl's 14 year old brother was baby sittting.

the scenario makes it no better but noone deserves to be sexually assaulted by some child predator, regardless of judgement one may pass on the parents.

the perp must be caught or served justice, streetside.

I say, "If ya do the crime, ya lose your privacy rights in favor of saving lives that might be lost otherwise.  The life of any child is more important than your privacy rights.  Get used to it."

So, what anyone can do (per the quoted Megan's Law Website) if they discover a pedophile, or other sex offender, living in their immediate neighborhood, they can post signs with the Internet addy of the Website and advise their neighbors to check it out.  They cannot be specific as to WHO lives in the neighborhood (or exactly where), but can say that a registered sex offender does live in the neighborhood.

First, as I said in another post today, I don't think they should ever see the outside of a prison again, forget privacy....

Second, I was thinking the same thing. If people suddenly saw posters up that said "Do you know who has moved into this neighborhood?" with the url listed, I'm sure they'd go look it up. As if I wasn't already freaked out by that 9 year old being assaulted, now I have this right in our backyard, and on the route my kids [used to] use to visit friends!
