I don't come to these pages too often, but I love Nations.
The Good:
1) Cheeseburgers come standard with loads of fresh leaf (not chopped) lettuce, thick big red tomotoes, and sliced (not cubed) onions (all optional)
2) The hamburger patty was fast food style (Pre-made) but thicker than In and Out and McDonalds. Thinner than Islands or Red Robin.
3) They do put mayo on the burger, which I really like for a change (when I go back, I will ask for light mayo)
4) Good old fashion American Cheese that melts the way american cheese should melt
5) The place was new so it was clean.
6) Outdoor seating is available
7) Breakfast menu (egss, pancakes, the standards) is good (served all day)
8) Soda fountain
9) Price versus what you get is good. I think the burger was right around $4, but it is a large size burger (you don't have to eat it all, geeze)
10) Pies looked good with about 6 or 7 under glass (no tin fees).
11) Hot dog a large grilled hot dog was good (not as good as Costco, it is a different type of hot dog)
The OK:
1) Chili Cheese Fries: They were OK, not bad, but I would not go back just for them,
2) Shake is fresh made! I have to give the nod to Smashburger for their Shakes. I also like In n Out shakes better, but Nations Shakes were good.
Negatives
1) There was too much mayo for me. While it was good, I would say light mayo next time. BTW, the menu says you can say hold or "go light" on any item. This worked well for one of my kids that wanted Ketchup and Mustard only on their cheese burger.
If you like Cheeseburgers, give the place a try. They do have their own niche and I was very happy to have them come into town (I still want a charbroil type place anyone know of any?). I would place them in the same category as Smashburger. Smashburger probably better but more expensive and less food for the money (but they don't have pies nor breakfast!
BTW I don't get all the negativity in some of the other posts. If I were a business owner, I'd appreciate a fair shake from some of the opinion makers on here. Businesses like these add jobs (younger kids working). When businesses succeed here in town, it is better for all of us. So, at least go in and get a cup of coffee and a piece of pie before you hammer them. Don't "poison the well" without giving them a fair shot.
PS. Red Robin closes their place by Kohls to move over to the other side of town. This will translate to better business for Smachburger or Pete's on the other side of the bridge (that is if Pete's service ever improves).
With that, I will slip back to obscurity. See you on the road fellow Folsomites!
