Looks like we are back in business. I am hopeful this will do the trick. I am not overly excited about the new look so I will keep tinkering. You may notice some odd colors on things at times, it likely means I am working on it.

Iphone is on my list but right now am focusing on the desktop layout. If you see lingering problems to fix, please use this thread. I understand the frustration of dealing with a site that is under construction - such is life in the software world!

A HUGE thanks to our web host (Osiris Communications) for helping us out with this. Seriously, I have said it before, but if you need a good web host with excellent service, they are excellent.

Maybe you're not aware that John runs this site on his time and dime. It usually takes time to get used to change . . . you're handling the change very poorly.

Ditto what you said, mac_convert.

Thanks, John. It's really not that hard to get used to.

Hey I'm not taking it personally... She likely was using IE and the site was seriously borked on IE. should be ok now.

I like the new format and layout. Especially something that I have long desired ( but never mentioned) the origin date of each topic.

On the needs side:
1. The up arrow on each post to get back to the top of the page.
2. why are most of the avatars missing ?

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

The "Up" arrow is an add-on; thanks for bringing this up (get it... up??? I slay myself.) Anyway, I will see if the new version has the addon available.
Avatars - I noticed this too. It's using our profile pictures instead of avatars now. I don't know if it's a setting or it's just something people will have to manually change. I will definitely be updating the default pictures though.

I cannot find anything anywhere that even shows avatars let alone how to change them.

It is the view new content at the top and set the right hand side to 24 hours or more

Where is "Open" topic?
Where is the New Posts link?

Not sure I like the changes, I don't like having to re-learn how to do something I used to know how to do.

If you look at the bar below the picture at the top of the screen - to the right is "View new content" that is the new posts. If you look to the far right there are option such as "last 24 hours" , 'last week" etc- select one and it will be defaulted to next time you look it will show the same.

For "Open Topic" use the same bar under the picture - the tabs include one for 'forums' click on that to find the selection of 'open topic' or other forums...

Hope this helps...

It doesn't go to the un-read posts. It just goes back to the beginning each time. I don't want to have to ford through all the stuff I've already read to find the new posts. Can we go back to the way it was?:(

You can have that option to just see the unread posts.
Go to the top - click on 'view new content'

Then on the left side is a bar that says 'by content type' and click on 'forums' then go down to the next section on the left bar ' by time period' and you will find one that says 'content I have not read'

That should give you what you want. Let me know if it works or not.

If the topic has more than one page of responses, you should see an option for "Go to first unread post" to the left of "Reply to this topic". Clicking on that will take you to where you last read. I have not found an easy way to do this if there is only one page, other than scrolling down the page.

Edited to Add: I found another way to go to the first unread post. When you get the list of topics (either from the new content or directly from each forum), each topic will have either a "dot" or a "star" - if you've posted in that topic. If you click on the dot/star instead of the topic heading, it should take you to the first unread post regardless of how many pages there are. The dot will only appear if there are replies you have not read. The star will get greyed-out once you've read all the replies and then return to bold when new replies are posted.

Just my two cents but this is the best one yet by far (in its current state).
