Probably not because classroom teachers won't see a penny of additional money. As a teacher I appreciate the kindness of the donations families make, but if you don't feel you want to donate just ignore the plea.
I do not mind donating, but it puts teachers in an uncomfortable position asking for donations given this blatant waste.

I agree with you it is uncomfortable to ask families for donations of school supplies. I have always been uncomfortable asking for donations, but only until a few years ago when I could no longer to afford purchasing class sets of 32 did I start asking parents to provide student materials to be used by their child/children.

owned by the City of Folsom, NOT FCUSD that's why it is
called Prairie City Stadium. If this is the case, why
did they do it in bright blue? Vista del Lago has to
use this field for games for JV and Varisty because
there are no bleachers at Vista? If we are budgeting
money on things like this instead of Librarians and other
Important academic things.... Why not put bleachers
In at Vista so the kids at Vista can have there on Home
field ?

If City of Folsom owns the stadium, then why is the money for the turf replacement coming out of the FCUSD budget that came from the cell tower rental money?

If the field was due for replacement anyway, then the story becomes less of a shocker. I would hate to think that $1.2 million was paid just to change from green to blue. However, as you also wonder, it still raises an eyebrow (or two) if there is an extra $300,000 involved to use blue.
I also wonder what an actual grass field would cost to maintain and replace every few years. Would it cost more than $100,000/year over 12 years? Or would it cost much less? Is there anything wrong with using grass? Injuries? Mud? other? Grass seemed to work out OK for decades.
You can tell how little I know about this subject.
I need to go into the grass selling business. $1.2 million for a football field?? Did it come with $8000 blue toilet seats too?

I need to contact AT&T and have them put a cell tower in my backyard! I'll take the cool mil and deal with the neighbors backlash.

Guess we should all be thankful that FHS didn't need a new locker room and/or weight room or the coaches might have gone to Oregon to get inspiration http://sportsillustr...-behind-scenes/
...just kidding. But it does bring in how the amenities that used to be just at the pro level are filtering down to the colleges and from the colleges to the high schools.

Can we do that? I want one of those fake palm tree ones.

From the cell phone tower in an agreement
That they would pay for the new fields when
The time came. They just foot the bill for the city.
Don't know if it's true that the city owns it.... That's
My question..... Does anyone really know ? Why is
Called Prairie City Stadium instead of Folsom High
Stadium?

Just a guess, but I see 2 possible reasons it is called "Prairie City Stadium"
1. It is located on Prairie City Rd
2. It is on or near the old, lost town of Prairie City. There is a historical marker right behind the stadium http://files.myfolso...airiecity.shtml
I heard that the district put aside the money

It appears the stadium is owned by FCUSD. link with other links to pics

So it cost more to replace the artificial turf in 2013 than it cost to build the theater and football stadium in 2002-3, with all the above-mentioned items??
What is wrong with this picture?
[Edit: What's wrong was my math. It was $1.2 Million, not $12 million, for the turf, as mrdavex reminded me.]

I think you have a misplaced decimal point Rich
Original Theater & Staudium Cost: $11.6 M
2013 Turf replacement: $1.2 M

I think school district owns most of the facilities, but the City manages them. I know with the Vista pool, in order to use it, you have to have an agreement with the City and the district.
