Steve, Are you suggesting that the new regs are targeted at tourists, and if so, how does the HD determine who is vacationing tourist vs visiting tourist from another community in Sacto vs resident? and does it really matter? Bad behavior is bad behavior.I'm not arguing the fact that there are well-known fun bars in Folsom, I was speaking more about tourism.

No! I mentionied that one of the of the HD residents wrote to the Telegraph about the bars on Sutter, saying 'shame on the city council for bringing in more tourists' or something to that effect.
When I mentioned that, 4thgen said, "And I wouldn't call the people coming to the bars tourists. We have many reasons for people to come and visit Folsom, like historic sites, beautiful bike trails and parks, a great little street to shop on, etc., but drinking in bars shouldn't be one of those that city council promotes. and, honestly, I don't think they are."
So, I made the City Council is not promoting bars to tourists, but that tourists do occasionally drink alcohol when on vacation.

Going somewhere to drink isn't necessarily a bad thing. Look at Napa, Rue Bourbon in New Orleans, or Rush St. in Chicago.
ONE of the attractions is the fun atmosphere that includes alcohol. If someone comes to Folsom because they've heard that The Cellar Wine Bar is a must-visit, or having a margarita on the deck at Hacienda or Lockdown provides for a great experience, and those people buy food, gas, trinkets or other goods or services, I'm all for it.
The person who wrote that there should be shame upon the City Council for wanting to attract tourists is saying that tourism to the Historic District is a bad thing, and it is not.
We all want a nice, clean, safe city which provides good services and amenities. How do we pay for it?
Folsom's future stability will rely heavily on tourists and the money the spend. The City Council should be thanked for any role they might have in bringing them in, not shamed.

I don't believe Folsom's stability will ever rely heavily on tourists. However, tourism should be another important facet of our economy. I am trying to figure out what the council has done to promote tourism.

CC passed a hotel tax that supports the tourism bureau. They've committed to having the Amgen tour here. There's two things. Don't often find myself plugging CC.
